Hi guys im new to this forum.
i was looking for a plan for my g27...
i like chilicokes one but unfortunately he never put a plan out there...

I have already found one which i am going to choose and build the cockpit my self, i would like a few other plans and then choose one for a final decision...
for the wheel, pedals and gear shifter

I recommend purchasing a Playseats, I got mine off Amazon...bolted my G27 to it, hasn't failed me yet...comfy and solid!

A Bang for your Buck alternative is the Xlerator Wheel Stand and your couch or chair.

Check out HotSeat Chassis. I've had one for about 5 years. It's built like a tank and everything is adjustable.

The Playseat is much less expensive and we have one of those too.

I admire your initiative. I've always wanted to make a good cockpit like say chilicokes, but never found the drive to dive in and give it a real go. I actually have quite a good setup with my G27 with a weighted down mini office/ computed desk and a canvas, slung camping chair. It actually puts me in a real good driving position. It's not pretty though. So I bought a Visionracer VR3. I haven't got it yet. But man it looks pretty. Unfortunately, because I live in the sticks, it cost me $400 in freight alone!!!!! It's lucky I'm a DINK. $1500 ish all up. But I know it will be worth every penny. I'm not going to regret it. Unless of course it's not as comfortable and ergonomic as my camping chair and cheapo computer desk.

bolted my logitech gt to a coffee table that had to have been fifty years old

i dont have that table anymore, but that obotto looks nice for the price

I've been toying with the idea to rip the drivers side floorpan out of a real car along with the steering column and drivers side dashboard. I want the solid feel and adjustability of a real car chair.
Don't tell the missus though. :scared:

Hey guys well thanks for the reply, its been a good year since I posted this maybe longer :P... I bought my g27 on play.com for 169.99 which I am pretty happy with. So now i guess its going to be a trip to the scrap yard to get a nice seat and then make my mind up if it would be better to do a steel 1 inch tubed cockpit or waysides wooden one.

If you are good with a welder or know someone, steel all the way. And try to recycle the material as much as possible. If you look on the sim racing hardware forum on this site, you can find a lot of great ideas.

I built a pretty solid one out of free wood scraps from an old fence. 2x4 and 2x6 planks, a little plywood, and a bunch of screws is it. plus throw on a cheap seat and good to go. only took about 6 hours. good luck!

I used the wayside_scrc_2010 with a change to hold a triple monitor stand, its made out of 2x4 and screws.

I have attempted to upload his files, but if you to a search in this form you should find it.

I don't know, those hotseat chassis, they look like a PVC rig basically. Just wouldn't pay that much for something that I could reproduce in PVC.

Thanks for the replies people.

Now I've seen Chilicokes cockpit and Waysides cockpit and Delphic reason...
I've learnt that you can't build a cockpit with exact measurements because everyone has there own taste of how close they want pedals, gear-stick and wheel.

To keep costs down I'm going to use cheap wood from a retailer in the uk called 'wickes'
and the build will be some what similar to Wayside's.... I've seen Delphic Reason's one and I think I'm going to build the base like that and then mix a few of the ideas together. I have a rough idea in my mind but until I go out and get the seat i wont be able to make some sort of precise decision. 💡

I'll keep you guys posted and I should start the build within the week
👍👍
Thanks
