I thought that the London course was one of the usual fictional Gran Turismo street courses, made from bits and pieces of the real city (except for Monaco). I even had it listed on my site as being made up. I did some more research on it after getting curious, and it turns out that the streets and landmarks are just like they are in real life. I have a picture here, so you can see the real streets. The course is the red line I made.

I'm sure it's not a coincidence that part of this track was used during the F1 in London event 2004. They ran the event on Regent Street. Here is a picture from the event, you should be able to recognize the location.

the seattle course is real. if i recall i remember someone mapping out the tokyo course as well.

That sure does look like the Seattle circuit. I've even driven on some of those roads. I thought they were all pieced together, but I guess I'm wrong.

No one has found where SSR5 and SSR11 are.

Almost certanly some parts of famous Tokyo highway "system" - maybe fictional, maybe even not. Take into concern that all "night city" tracks share their respectful origin from the first GT game, that had no licenced tracks, or no tracks named after cities at all.

Clubman Stage Route 5
Special Stage R5
Special Stage R11 (underpass, overpass was in GT3 version)

If anyone owuld be crazy enough to track the landmarks on signs above the tracks, and then to googlemap them - but then again - I guess it would be Sizif's job..

I don't recall anyone google mapping the excellent Rome Night track from GT2.

I've raced around London before in games. There was the London course in "Midnight Club" until I eventually gave up on it because it was too frustrating to finally advance to London by clearing the New York City races. In real racing, Victoria Road and Victoria Garden were truly technical courses in Enthusia. I personally enjoy urban environments. If it isn't urban environments I enjoy, it's tropical environments. Would it be funny if Formula GT returned to GT5 and had a true race around these same streets that F1 cars had a race deal on?

I have nothing against city street courses even if they aren't streets that were actually used in races. I don't see why some people are so antagonistic over fantasy street courses. Hell, I was thinking about a GT course raced in Houston. They are good as long as the course remains a fun and interesting course. The worst street course in ANY game was the Canberra street course ("Pro Race Driver" in the V8 Supercar races). That was an actual course, and I HATED it. It lacked rhythm badly and seemed almost too easy to crash out of the race. And as for Rome-Night from GT2... most of you know I consider GT2 as my least favorite GT game. This was one of the reasons. It wasn't the track; it was just that this track wasn't utilized in race events. It wasn't like this was a sacred race track or anything. Polyphony Digital basically just left this track to rot. At least let us be able to use this track for actual racing rather than just include it for the hell of it. Complex String (GT3) doesn't seriously qualify as a track to go racing on in pack racing because this was more like a test course. Rome-Night wasn't.

This London course marks the first time ANY real-life venue in the United Kingdom was featured in a GT game. It looks like the most challenging corner will be the intersection of Shaftsbury Avenue and Choring(?) Cross Road. That is an absolutely sharp corner. I wonder where the Start/Finish line would be placed. My best guess would be Shaftsbury Avenue. If someone on here is brave enough, I'd like to see someone in London put up a YouTube video or something to offer a preview of driving this route will be like.

So there is a video already on this. My aopogies. I am not a regular on the GT5: Prologue circuit. So I'm sorry I didn't get to see that video.

I will hopefully be able to take some pics of the real streets - the level of detail in the game is amazing... you can even see the pub where my mate spent his 33rd birthday back in August, The Chandos (on the corner of Charing Cross Rd and St. Martin's Lane - you can probably make out the 'Pret A Manger' easier, since you can't see the name of the pub)

Citta di Aria and Costa di Amalfi exist ?
Citta di Aria certainly does:

As for Costa di Amalfi, I found the island it's supposed to be on, but not the actual track layout.

I still think it's great to have Gran Turismo action in the United Kingdom for the first time in the ten years of the franchise. As if London as a street course wasn't good enough, you even get Top Gear's test track to race around. So the United Kingdom will finally be featured as far as real-world locations go. If you count Trial Mountain as a British course (according to GT2's British Nationals at Trial Mountain), then we certainly get some representation in the United Kingdom for the first time ever.

Now all we need is GT racing action in Australia. Bathurst would be a dream. However, I'm also okay with Surfer's Paradise, Sandown, Eastern Creek, Queensland, Pukekohe (New Zealand venue), or places like that.

What island is it supposed to be on ?...

As far as I can translate, Costa di Amalfi just means "The coast of Amalfi", so that's my guess...

I'm looking - haven't found anything yet :-)

[Edit:] Well D'uh for me - Just looked at the track on YT, and of course that has to be an island - Water everywhere...

The coincidence is not likely to be with that part of London being part of the F1 event. I'm sure it has far more to do with that being a London landmark ;).

Speakin gof F1 events though, there was one in Manchester last year which was awesome. It'd be nice if that led onto someitnhg, it won't but it'd be nice if.

The level of detail is amazing on this track, you really have to drive slow to appreciate it. It's funny that there are at least 2 Pizza Huts along the way. There's even a rather large Budweiser ad I never noticed.

If you believe that all the tracks that are shown on the weather/ world map thing on the main screen are going to be in GT5, then Silverstone and Brands Hatch will also be in GT5.

I can't FREAKING wait to have Special Stage R5 in GT5 (my fav track, ever) :D

Meh. (first time I ever typed that) I'd rather Special Stage Route 11 like in GT1. Both of them are good, but I've always seemed to like SSR11 more than SSR5.

Costa di Amalfi should be located on the Italian island of Capri, somewhenre around the city of Amalfi.

http://www.maplandia.com/italy/campania/salerno/amalfi/

The exact layout can't be found, that 's true - but maybe it's not at the Amalfi's exact proximity.

This is one of those tracks that has some element of truth to it's layout but has been idealised to make it look 'pretty'. I've overlayed the GT4 track map onto a google maps image below. As you can see, there is a similarity with the actual roads but they have taken some artistic licence with the location of the back section of the track that in the game over looks the coast on the other side of the island. IRL the supposed location of this back section of track is much further back from the coastline. PD have shrunk the island of Capri to suit their needs.

If i'm right. the only part of the Seatle track that isn't real is the stadium on the outside of the 90degree right coming off the back straight (on the forward layout), just before the busstop chicane.

It USED to be correct but the place got demolished shortly after the rec photo team had been to the area during the production of GT2.

Got to agree with JohnBM01 as well, Bathurst would be incredible! Could you imagine racing a Skyline or a Holden around that legendary track?! :O

I was looking around on google maps, and i concluded the same thing.
It's the only island around there which has such winding roads.
Most of the roads on the other islands are almost straight.

correct. i think in the first three they still had the kingdome. in gt4 i think they only have Safeco field which is correct. qwest field should now be where the kingdom is. so that 90 degree corner after tha back straight should take us between two stadiums and there shouldnt be a chicane anymore.

Wrong conclusion is wrong.

Seattle was not in the first game, as it was devoid of real cities as previously mentioned. The Kingdome has been in every game since.

I find these stories about real life track in GT that are only half the truth very intresting. Does anyone know any others?
