Longest one can go without food and water?

What's the longest an average male or female (if there's a difference, maybe?) go without food and water? Is there a record for someone who has gone without food or water for a period of time?

I'm not sure about without food or water. But I think you can live without food for two weeks if you have water.

From the top of my head, the numbers are 20 days without food, 11 days without water and 4 days without sleep. That's the "average person", although I'd imagine a distinction between male and female must be drawn.

Who the hell designed that website? It lacks a general sense of organization.

And if my memory serves me correctly, I think the record without food or water is 21 days. A Russian prisoner was left in solitary confinement, but the prison guards simply forgot about him. Thankfully for the prisoner, they remembered about him just in time. You can survive a lot longer with just water (remeber David Blaine's stunt in London?).

Yeah, camels have bumps on their back which enable them to go without water much longer. So I assume women can last longer than men with their bumps on their chest.

Yeah as far as I can remember, the longest I heard that you could go without food was close to a month and water was something like 10 days depending on the environment.

It's the rule of 3.

3 minutes without air, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. That's the average mean. Give or take a digit or two in any of those categories
