This 4.5 mile rural street circuit was very fast and dangerous with a long wooden bridge, a corner passing under a brick built railway viaduct and three areas of the track where the cars got airborne, but that didn't stop Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Frank Gardner and a host of other great drivers from competing there between 1953 and 1968. The features which made it so dangerous would make it a thrilling track for GT6 or GT7.

Listen to Frank Gardners recollections of racing at the track (includes fantastic period race footage).

A few pictures and at the bottom a link to Wikipedia for more information:

Below the long wooden bridge. Middle circuit layout, race programme and the famous viaduct.

Looks interesting. I thought I knew all the Tasmanian tracks. ;)

Here's an appropriately titled film - Long Weekend at Longford.
Grab the popcorn though, it's quite long. (Pun intended)

I'm not normally a fan of these old tracks with lots of long straights, but after driving this in GT Legends and Assetto Corsa, it's a great track. Would love GT to have this with some old open wheelers to race on it with.

Agreed - if they can't get the F1 cars for licensing reasons, why not get some Tasman cars, they were raced by the F1 greats in the sixties. these two would be nice with a choice of colours and numbers and could be made a tribute to Sir Jack Brabham:

I totally agree, this should be included in GTSport or GT7. Someone has made a beautiful version of this legendary track in RaceDepartment. The MOD can be downloaded for the PC version of Assetto Corsa.
Please Kaz and Polyphony Digital, make this track:bowdown::D
