Wrangler and Explorer Sport are the 2 that come to mind first, you wouldn't be interested in an Isuzu Rodeo?

From the SUV remark I can assume you're in the US, so um... Chevy Tracker?

Why do you specifically want a 2dr though? You'll find hundreds more if you opt for a 5. I was going to suggest the Suzuki Vitara, but it would seem that's only sold as a 5dr in the 'states. So, the only new available option to you is, I'm afraid, this:

Hi, I'm looking for a good 2 door new SUV. I was thinking of Jeep Wrangler but .. it looks old.

Any recommendation ?

Well I can afford up to $30,000. And I'll be using it for highways mostly.

oh. Do you think Suzuki Grand Vitara is a good car ? It looks like what I'm actually looking for.

Bronco yes! It has very impressive MPG on highways, something about a historic chase in L.A. proves it. Clips are on YouTube and was all over the media I hear ;).

Here's the thing. No-one MAKES 2-door SUVs OTHER THAN the Wrangler or FJ cruiser anymore. Your best bet is looking at 10-year-old or older body-on-frame SUVs.

Or get a pickup. Toyota Tacoma should be fine.

Bronco, the 2 door version Jeep Wrangler, Explorer Sport are all 2-door trucks. What are you getting at?

Bronco - not sold since late '90s
Wrangler - he doesn't want one
Explorer Sport Trac - It's a 4-door with a bed.
Explorer Sport - no longer sold with two doors. Likely not sold that way since the late '90s - early '00s.
Toyota FJ Cruiser - okay, but nothing you couldn't get in a Tacoma with a Topper.
S-10 Blazer - Not sold since early '00s, I've not seen a 4X4 version for a long time.

If he wants two doors and something to play in the mud with, and not a Wrangler, he should get a mini-truck. It'll be (reasonably) good on gas, get him anywhere an SUV can, and carry dirty stuff in the bed. otherwise, he can get a 4-door SUV.

I said Explorer Sport, not the ugly ridiculous Sport Trac pick-up my neighbor owned a Silver one from there debut. Now nowhere did he say year of the truck he wanted or new vs. used. SO who gives a 🤬 if a Bronco hasn't been sold since the late 90's and the same for the S10 Blazer., Wrangler OK fine scratch that one. Now Face notice hand right there... MEET him :ouch:, DUUUH there aren't any spanking new built Ford Tough 2010, 2009 Sport Explorers, again he didn't say new vs. used so a used Explorer Sport from the past is clearly what I'm stating. FJ Crusier and the Vitara yes if that's what you want dude go for it.

He did also say he was looking at "New," rather than "Used." that, and I covered all the bases in case you meant one or the other.

He said the Jeep Wrangler was looked 'old', and that the Suzuki looks like what he wants. I must be missing the part stating he wants something new and not used.

:odd: Okay...

Yeah as said, you won't find much in terms of 2dr suvs for new vehicles. I would suggest a 90's Chevy Fullsize Blazer/Tahoe 2dr. They are tough as nails, most have the trusty 350, and they have plenty of room. They also have a normal IFS vs Ford's TTB system, which makes it much easier if you ever want to lift it (or lower it even).

if a Bronco hasn't been sold since the late 90's and the same for the S10 Blazer.

The S-10 Blazer was sold through 2005 in two door trim, so it was sold after the late 1990's in the US. It's actually still sold in South America as a new vehicle.

Just curious though, why do you want a two-door SUV? I had a two door Blazer and it was fairly pointless. I mean you might as well just get an extended cab pickup truck and just put a cap over the bed.

The only two-door SUV's I even remotely know about that are new, as in now used, are a Toyota FJ and Jeep Wrangler. The Grand Vitara is not sold in two door trim, at least not in America. Out of the choices between the Wrangler and the FJ, I'd probably just walk. Really though the FJ isn't bad, I went and test drove one a few years back and it wasn't awful. Not my sort of vehicle though.

I was going to suggest the recent Tahoe myself. Always had a thing for lifted ones.

I can't find the specific one I'm thinking off though. It was in 4-Wheeler magazine.

What, one of those Retro, Icon-reborn type cars? Yeah, I couldn't see you driving one of those either :p

Have to admit actually, if it were my $30k I'd be getting the FJ if I was in the market for a 4x4 over there.

I'd take an '86+ Bronco and redo everything (as in suspension bits, fix all rot, etc). Hell with 30 grand you could have a shop redo everything. And put in a 5.4L Navigator motor or something so it gets reasonable fuel economy.

First off, reasonable to you is insanely good to me, and it's a fullsize truck with a few feet chopped out of the middle. Second, a modern 5.4 will do much better than the old low-compression, poorly managed 5.0 or 5.8 available in those trucks. :p

You'd probably manage 20mpg on the highway, which isn't bad considering it'd be a giant box.

My uncle had an '89 with a 302 that managed 8-10 depending on how much of a trailer was stuck behind it and how fast he was going. Might've cracked 12 with nothing behind it doing 80.

No worries, was just playin' with you :D I'm sure in comparison it's much better. And as we all know, little gains in relatively poor fuel economy are actually better than big gains in already-high economy.

Not to mention the improvement in response, smoothness etc.
