Once I get some software apps to actually test my programs, I'll be sure to do it. Comparing it to my S**T ASS computer now, that is (1.5gb RAM, 2.4gHz Celeron O/c'd @ 2.7gHz, Asus P4S8X-X mobo).

I don't really have anything to compare it to other than PS7 render times and the speed I can run GTA: SA at...
 
Ok, so the new mobo (780i SLI) and processor (Intel Core2 Quad 6600) have arrived.

I've got the major components (bar power, atm) connected to the motherboard, and I've just got a couple issues I'd like to test, but I want to know this:

Is it safe to temporarily use my existing (old) heatsink & fan assembly for a POST (Power on, self test)?

Edit: I've got new thermal conductive paste too. And my old computer is running fine (processor @ 38C) without thermal paste, and it's overclocked from 2.4gHz to 2.6gHz (not a lot, but still...).
