I'm looking for a place online to buy medium-large quantities of nuts (salted roasted peanuts, salted toasted pistachios in the shell, toasted unsalted almonds) of good quality for reasonable prices. By a medium-large quantity I mean between 3 and 5 pounds.

Grocery store nuts are of poor quality and overpriced. I have been going to Trader Joe's (a natural food type store around here) but I will be moving in two weeks or so, so I need an alternative place.

Any suggestions? If there is a place that sells other nonperishables and delivers them to your door (particular other hard to find stuff like dried fruits), that would be cool too. Save me the trouble of carrying cans back from the grocery store.

Be careful about looking for nuts on the internet.

I didn't have to look vary far...

I just realized that I made both a clever double-entendre and a bonus triple for notorious internet psychos.

Lol, anyway, Publix used to do an online home-delivery grocery shopping service. You also might want to check if Costco or Sam's Club or some other wholesaler can sell your their nuts online. I'm pretty sure Costco ships non-food stuff to you, but, as for nuts, I don't know if they'll leave a load at your doorstep.

So...Costco doesn't sell that stuff online, I don't have a Sams club membership...

Has anyone bought food through Amazon? Is it quality? Or was it sitting in a warehouse for 5 years?

When you get to where you're going, look into the local natural foods co-op. They usually have a good deal on bulk stuff like nuts, grains, and cereals.

Albertson's delivers to me all the time. For $10 extra, though. They'll even put the stuff that goes in the freezer for your right away so it wont melt. But, that's a regular store.

I like nuts, and I often buy bulk nuts at the store, but NEVER bagged nuts. You cannot tell how fresh they are. Bulk almonds, walnuts and peanuts are our family's favorites. I test them before I buy.

I have yet to find a online store that sells bulk nuts, other than Albertson's. But then, I never looked for one because I never needed one.

Some help.

If you don't mind saying, where are you moving to? You never know what might be available. Whole Foods/Wild Oats seem to be growing pretty fast.

Then does it have to be organic? If not just find the local party supply/catering store. When you mentioned this I immediately thought of Liquor Barn. I shop there regularly, although it is rarely for nuts. But we did manage to host my mom's wedding reception from their supplies.

A lot of times stores like that can get you what you want/need if it isn't available in-store.
