Rained all day today so no running. I did do thirty push ups, forty crunches, ten leg lifts, forty squats, and lifted the back of a broken four wheeler we have( it has no rear diff) forty times. I lifted it twenty times with my palms facing away from me, then twenty with my palms facing me. I also balanced between the two saw horses I mentioned earlier, and lifted my legs parallel with them. And just because I was running out of ideas for what I could do, I did forty toe touches.

Those squats are killing me though, I got out of the shower twenty minutes ago and my thighs are wanting to seize up on me.

The only problem with squats is that he needs to be doing lengthy sessions of aerobic exercise and squats are quite exhuasting. Personally I'd exclude them for the sake of keeping the jogging going well.

Yeah, that's true. But, was his goal to burn fat or to strengthen the heart and aerobic performance? I would say do the squats first because it's not high-impact like running, and then once his legs are a bit more trained and he's lost a bit of weight he can start jogging. This way, the legs won't be so much of a limitation and he'll be able to jog longer, thereby training the heart longer.

Don't burn yourself out, dude. You'll get "potty-flop" for a week or two though. I remember when I first started lifting in high school, I could barely get out of my desk/chair during class.

I just want to do whatever I can to lose weight. My legs have eased up on me a lot since I last posted, not sure how they'll feel tomorrow though. And I've studied a bit on HIIT training, pretty much what TB posted a while back. So tomorrow, if weather permits, I'll be alternating jogging with sprinting, and easing back on the amount of time I'm doing cardio.

Also researched a bit on diet, found a list of good foods, proteins and complex carbs, and good fats that will help. And I'm going to start eating a bit less so I start to burn more calories than I take in. To help with that I'm going to drink only water from now on, and a lot of it.

Not even things like juices? I drink different blends of juices all the time.

Read in one of the nutrition things that juice is bad for you, because most of them are made up of nothing but simple sugars.

Are you a soda drinker? You'll find that if you just drink water, sodas will taste like crap after 3 months pass. I lost 10 easy pounds by doing nothing but cutting soda and drinking (lots of) water and an occasional glass of wine or beer with dinners.

Juice is "bad" for you unless you juice the fruits and vegetables yourself. Nothing wrong with fruit as long as you watch the calories. Most juices are loaded with high fructose corn syrup, as you said. That's the problem.

Not really, I only drink soda if we got out to dinner. What I usually drink is sweet tea, one cup of sugar/ gallon.
