Lost my save thanks to sony telling me to.

Wondering if anyone would be nice enough to help me out.

Gran turismo 5 is my favorite game on the ps3. I purchased a racing wheel setup, the works so i could fully enjoy the game.
My ps3 had the YLOD and i was told by sony to keep my data i should hold on to my hard drive. When they sent me back my ps3 i found out i can no longer ever use the data saved on a drive that has been taken out of a ps3.

I lost everything i had worked for in GT5 since the game came out and was wondering if anyone could help me get any of my most precious cars back.

The only ones that come to mind that ill have trouble getting back are the following cars (lancias, truenos/levins, and the jeff gordon seasonal event nascar(s))...
The nascar(s) given from the same event that gives you the jeff gordon racing suit

Does anyone know the name of the 1 or 2 cars from the jeff gordan nascar event?

I also lost all my cool paint chips but hopefully i can get em again. Other than that i can get most my stuff back i hope.

I'm sorry but can you simplify that. What do you mean you can't use the drive? Why can't you?
 
You can take the drive out to replace with another and ive done so using the back up data utility. When i called up tech support to see what they could do about my ps3 they told me i needed to mail it in and pay $130 for repairs. The guy who set this all up for me told me that they wipe the drives when they do repairs, so he suggested i keep the hard drive that has all my saved data on it and send the ps3 in with another driver.

When i got everything back i called up to see why my drive with my saves on it wasnt working. They told me that for some reason (im guessing to keep ppl from illegally sharing content /shrug) that when you take a drive out of the ps3 for X amount of time the ps3 will not recognize the hard drive once you put it back in and will need to wipe the drive in order to use the drive. They admitted it was their fault and offered me a selection of games to pick from as compensation, all of which i already owned, were terrible games, or were worthless. I wound up picking a game i already had thinking i could maybe resell it, until i found out how cheap it was.
 
cant you hook the drive up to a computer as a slave and get contents off of it?
 
from what ive read its encrypted, so i dont believe i could just transfer the info over, i would try just transferring all the files to another drive but it wouldnt matter because it would still wanna wipe the drive no matter what i do. The only thing i can think of is some how emulating what the back up utility does to make the ps3 think im recovering these files from a "back up" on an external drive. But thats out of my league right now in terms of ps3 knowledge. Ive been looking for a modding community that i can get help from on this issue but no one responds whenever i ask about a forum or site for help on modding a ps3 :(
 
Yep was in the same boat about 2 months ago... but a house fire claimed my ps3 an save :(

There's nothing you can do to get that data back tho, which sucks. I'm pretty much back to where i was before the fire now.

What i have done now is put my profile on a mates system an once every 1-2 weeks go over there an put my save on his console. That way if anything does ever happen i won't be starting ALL over again.
 
Usb is my best friend mate,I can put up cars for borrow if you like,I have a couple up already Robabza2 is the handle.

The Nurburgring seasonal gives you 1,000,000cr (1 lap) if you have the 200% login bonus.
Also the Stratos Rally Car is untradable. I also have both of the Corollas, add me if you wish.

Edit: Just noticed that neither of those truenos are the old ae86 trueno, didnt know there were 3. If i could pick any of these cars to have i think it would have to be the original trueno ae86 not the sprinters.

Hey guys, sorry for the late response, been working my *** off dealing with customer support from 3 different companies that have been basically screwing me. Finally got some of the stuff sorted through and then just wrapped up my BDay and am about to pass out. If any of you guys can add me and send me anything to help me out i would greatly appreciate it and try and find you anything i can if you'd like. Im also running B spec grinder so add my alt if you guys wanna get some b spec xp/money.

Sorry not too familiar with borrowing. Do u mean the lil feature where we add each other and u can add the car so i can drive it around in the practice mode? Im just trying to get any help i can whether that be in the form of paint chips ive lost, or cars. Ill take any donation or what ever you wanna call it. My goal is just to get back the cars i lost. I had 3 of the levin cars which were gifted/traded to me. I also had the lancia stratos rally version i believe it was which was traded to me.

If i cant actually use it in career mode then i have no real use for it. I do love driving the cars around but i just want the cars that were the hardest for me to get in terms of trading. Any of the other rarer cars i had i can be patient enough to find in the used car dealership. I also gave up caring about the b spec outfits even though i spent a lot of time earning them along with other thing through the seasonal events, but considering i cant remember which ones they all are the only seasonal stuff i care about was the nascar/jeff gordon stuff i lost. I never had an appreciation for the nascar stuff in this game until i had to work my butt off trying to get the jeff gordon outfit and car. Mainly i just love the car i earned cuz i learned to whip that thing around corners like it shouldnt even be able to physically do lol. I do appreciate the offer tho whether i can get one of the cars i lost or not.

So to add to my wishlist for cars, if anyone has an extra copy of the jeff gordon car im talking about id love to know. Ill gladly try and trade for it or if you can gift it to me thatd be great. Im not sure if you can still make and trade copies like we could back before i lost everything.

Sadly im actually contemplating selling my racing wheel for the xbox 360 version that fanatec makes so i can play me some Forza 4 even tho GT5 is my baby :P
But if i can get those handful of cars that i worked the hardest to get ill gladly be back on gt5 cuz of how much i love this game.
 
You can,you simply add me and get in the car,race it in career,seasonal's etc then switch back out of it when you need to change cars.the idea was to help you get money quickly.👍 I can put 6 cars up at a time.

Money is very easy to get in this game but the special paint chips and cars that you can only get from events, coupons, that might or might not be available in the used car dealership is all i care for. Check the link you sent me i posted on that thread asking you about the cars im interested in and had a couple questions that im mentioning in the following paragraph.

Yeah i just did some digging around on mygt and it looks like the stratos cars and the caterham are aquired through career mode but i remember trading for them. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Id also love to know the name of the car that was given from the same seasonal event(s) that gave all the jeff gordan stuff out. There might have been two of those cars, if thats the case if anyone knows both names thatd be great. Those cars are pretty much at the top of my list since i believe the ae86 trueno isnt too hard to come by when it comes to trading, or at least it wasnt when i got it before i lost my save.

Just borrow cars of rob till you get upto that level then do that race and you,ll have your stratos back again.:D
And the Jeff gordon seasonal is no longer available. Many people will just give it you if they have you in there friends list already.:D

So the 77 stratos rally car is an event car i can get then? What about the other stratos and the caterham? Im leaning towards the caterham being an event car since i dont remember trading for that one, i might have found it on the used dealership tho.

Oh just another little bit of advice.
List your OCD cars. (Online car dealers) Many a people collect all cars in the game with different colour variants of them.
So just list colours of the cars in the OP. (Original Post) you may get some customers come along and trade you some cars up for them.:D
But most want cars in 0/0/0 so do not get in the car when bought. It keeps it 0/0/0 in your garage then.?
Regardless of price of a car its 1 car or ticket/trade for 1 car/ticket.

Thanks, too bad i have nothing to offer in a trade, thats why im asking. Im gonna have to see if i can get all my paint chips back but that will take longer than i really even wanna bother with. Ill just get burnt out and wanna take a break from the game lol.

Id be asking for all the other cars ive lost, not sure how many cars i earned, but i started playing when the game was released, so any gift coupon car deals that they gave out for free for logging on since then i should have had. Ill just try and look around if theres any i seriously want. I just want to get a hold of my favorite cars that i worked for.

I mainly set up this new save for my friends to play on but i love this game and knew i couldnt stay away for long lol.

I wound up getting an RX7 GT Limited FC J '85 car from the birthday coupon i got last night. Drove it around all stock and its now one of my favorite cars. So now i really wanna start getting everything back to where it was before i lost my save.

Im not much of a trader and barely have time to play GT5 so scouring these forums for cars is very hard for me. As soon as i get the cars ive mentioned ill probably just work on getting a handful of paint chips, and the rare paint chips and then ill just be focusing on the used car dealership since i dont think ill have much time to hover around the forums here even though i wish i could.

Does anyone know about the crazy F1 style car, i cant believe i cant remember the name. Xsomething? You get one for reaching max level on b spec i think. And then im pretty sure they gave one out for some reason cuz i got one as a coupon when i logged in one day. Anyways, the one from the coupon, is there a way to get that still or will i have to find that car through trading?

Your only problem is getting freebies round is a little hard because many have come asking for stuff when they,re save has gone AWOL.:D
Lot of threads like this has gone before yours and many will still appear after yours as gone.?

Thats why I recomend a few trades and while the OCD is cheap look for something in return for some of them cheap cars.?
It will give you a chance to get some tickets or cars in.

Has for the amount of time you put into the game or GTPlanet (marketplace) thats relevant to what you get of the marketplace.:)

When i got my first levin i was here willing to trade but at the time could buy any car, had all the rare paints, and nothing else really worth mentioning, i gave a link to my old mygranturismo garage and found someone nice enough to give me the ae86 for free. He said he was gonna ask me for something and never did, so i still owe him and am waiting for him to contact me via PSN or here if he ever needs something, but i doubt he will lol.

Fingers crossed you,ll get some that will help you but until you do all I can suggest is get yourself floating round the marketplace and see if there is anything anyone is after so you can improve your chances of moving on from a thread like these.:)

The best bit of advice I can give you is to backup to memory stick and computer. Then you can dupe and trade cars from the OCD if you want everything for free you need to look in the giveaway thread and hope what you want gets offered I know somebody was offering a stratos. You cAnnot ask for stuff on it though.

But as for tickets or cars it will be a while as am a little busy on them.
Just put a message in the FR. Plus I have been cleaning my PS3 list as its got a little over run. So I will keep you there for the time being to help a bit.?
