Can someone tell me how to keep a lotus elise pointed forward. For the british lightweight race I can't keep it on track at all. Is there another uk car I can use to win this race without spending 80k.
Thanks'.........sped1966

I used the old Triumph Spitfire and modded it a bit. Always loved the look of that car (and the hardtop fastback version, the GT6)...

Tuned to comparable hp and tried running with no assists. Even tried with traction control at 5 or 6 and abs cranked up a little. Didn't wanna throw down 25k on racing tires either for a car I didn't really want to buy anyway.

There's loads of different Elise's in the game, which one did you use..??

What tyres you on..??

Tried the 96 from the dealership and the sport 190 '98. Ran sport medium rubber on them. Where can I find a triumph, mg, or vauxhall?

What about the type 72 '01 elise or Elan s1 '62. Any big difference really. Or all pretty much the same. Horsepower to weight ratio just hard to keep stuck I think.

If you look in the UCD, you might find a Caterham in there, like I did. I don't think it costs 80,000 credits, and it is one of the best handling cars in the game, especially with tuning. I just used a Mclaren F1 GTR Stealth Car. And won. Horribly.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA - I never thought of the McLaren! Surprised it's allowed!

And yeah, the Caterham would do quite nicely. Wicked little buggers, those.

Found a little Vauxhall Tigra. Should work great. FF always handles much better than mr out fr. Working on this little race to keep from throwing my wheel outside because of gt academy tzukuba. I've hit the 1.07 wall. Just gotta step away...........lol.

I have to ask same as the other guy... What settings are you using? The best lightweight in my opinion is the Elise 111 RM. I CRUSH drivers using 500-600 HP cars left and right with that thing. It will max out HP just over 300hp and hadles like a dream once you dial it in a bit. Heck I did at 6min 27sec lap on the ring today without even pushing it. And that was after me and another guy in the same room driving the same car came in 1st/2nd over and over and over through Laguna, Route 5, Cote De Azure, Rome and Cape Ring again against cars double to triple the HP.

the Caterham Seven... you can't even reduce its stock 394kg at all :grumpy: but with some engine modification  along with stock suspension!

I used TVR Tamora - available through the dealership. After my experience with the Elise on the Top Gear track I didn't want to go near one.

The Top Gear Test Elise drove like like that because it was on comfort hard tires. The 111RM is a total different animal all together. While I have not driven the TVR yet I have to say I LOVE my Elise. Throw some racing tires on it and its a force to be delt with on any track. Honestly it probably the fastest car around almost any track I own under 500hp and I do not have a small collection. And given the price even after Race Mod.... Awsome Value!

Used a TVR T350C (I think thats what its called) Wasnt close. If I could do it over again I'd run my Motor Sport Elise 190. I love that car to death!

Unfortunately the Elise is one of the least accurately portrayed cars in this game. I've raced a Lotus Elise 111R around Laguna Seca in real life. I know for a fact that I can take turn number 3 in thrid gear flat out without any control issues. In GT5 if I do that, the rear end comes loose WAY too easily. Easiest way to correct is instead of just hammering that gas pedal, ease onto the gas out of the turn and ease onto the brakes into the turns. Takes a little getting used to and a little practice, but it works. This also means you have to run a perfect race though if you want any chance of coming in first.

IMO if you got the topgear race 2 trophy then whats the problem controlling them, try use some low angle drift to help you round the track,

I used the McLaren F1 the first time too just because it let me :)

I also ran the 71 Lotus Europa special which was fun and of course I had to run my Elise 111r RM in it.

Amazing how good that car drives with the race mod.

Unless you're decent with an MR, the Elise will give you fits. Do what others mentioned, and try one of the nice FR offerings.

The elise is a short wheelbase car, so the backend will be more dangerous when it goes.

Dab of oppo lock and jobs a carrot.
