Anyone else own and using this car?
It's absolutely brilliant to drive.

I really had to tweak it to handle corners better but I've got it dialled in lovely now (which I'll be sharing in the tuning section later)

I'm running with the Esprit more than my Scuderia both offline and on.
Scuderia is alot more revvy and crisp all the way to the top and precise on the nose but something about the Esprit that's just immensely fun.

I've got a moderate tune of 506bhp but alot of my focus is on chassis suspension and drivability. It's just under 5s slower than my scuderia on the same track even though it's older, up on weight and down 90bhp.

i bought it for one of the british events.... it won easy but i thought it was the worst. so much so that i sold it as soon as i completed the event

The Esprit is my favorite Lotus (don't care much for the Elise), but I have to admit I have not driven it enough. I'd love to see your tune.

'I've got a moderate tune of 506bhp', your definition of 'moderate' is a lot different to mine. Hah! Playing with 500+ HP on the wedge from Hethel is very brave indeed. I've been pondering what car I should get when I want to find something for the empty mid-engined supercar spot in my garage. Ferraris and Lambos are all very well but I was thinking about something a little different and the Esprit crossed my mind. I'm interested to hear that you enjoy driving it and I'm quite keen to pick one up now based on your comments. Looking forward to reading your tuning tips for it in the other section. Is it a Premium car btw...? What colour is yours? Can we see a photo?

You can take the Esprit well over 650bhp with stage 3+turbo's etc. so I consider 506 definitely moderate lol. TBH unless you're doing all out top speed runs it doesn't need to be faster because traction will suffer then.

It's a car that's not for or everyone that's for sure, it handles like a traditional MR and needs some good tweaking to bring it in line, it's got a definite V8 roar as opposed to a high end revy sound like a Ferrari.

However it's a bit exclusive, don't see many others with them and it's alotta fun on the track. Yesterday I won against four Zonda 09's. I'm sure they weren't the best drivers but then nor am I.

It is a premium car.

Beautiful car if you apreciate it enough to leave it in the 350-390 HP range. I love the Flat-plane V8 sound with the turbo whine. Very fast, light and easy to handle car. Plus it has all the good looks!

Second car I bought in GT5. I love it. It's the car I use for testing courses in the course maker. :)

I've used it to win most of the events up to the race cars and such. I love that with the weight reduction it fits into the British lightweights event. :D
It's probably one of my favorite cars of all time.

Unfortunately my B-spec guy can't drive the car worth a crap. :(

Esprit related: Do they have the Esprit model from the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me?" I'd love to have that one too.

I wonder how the new Esprit is going to be like since they are clearly gunning at the 458 Italia and MP4-12C.

Great to see that some other players appreciate them, I bought one last week and have been enjoying massively since. One make races in Practice are great fun with the standard car.

I prefer to keep the power fairly close to standard too, although I've decided to run 410bhp, 10kgs weight loss and gearing so it matches a 360 Modena roughly (400bhp/1350kg/186mph) along with my own suspension settings.

I started an Esprit thread in the photomode subforum a few days ago and have not had much interest, so why not head over and add some if you have them, I'd love to see some other members shots.

I absolutely love mine, one of the first exspensive cars i bought. It's a monster for drifting, and with a different setup it's a fantastic racer. I thought it was the best sounding car in the game until i heard some other and they souded EXACTLY the same :scared:? Still, i love the car. Mine's almost fully tuned, it's making around 614hp. Definitely in my top 5 for the game.

Love the looks of that car, yet to buy one though,

I know there is one premium version and several standards, but which one is faster (better)? because there are standards with fancy names like V8 GT, or V8 SE. But I like the premium one for the looks of course.

I bought mine a few days ago, it was one of those cars I really looked out for to drive and after driving it with some mild upgrades I just thought who am I kidding and went for the full blow out, initially I feared it would handle like a beast but it's totally controllable at least on the normal racetires I fitted it with (seems a bit scary to try it with roadtires).

It's done about 340-something kilometers now (so I guess driven in nicely) and after an oilchange it produces 728 Bhp with a weight of 1144 kg.
I've hardened the springs (and some other suspension changes) but didn't change the balance, fettled with the LSD and set the topspeed at 340 km/h (seems about right) which it didn't reach yet although it keeps pulling once in 5th gear (it only has 5 gears with the custom gearbox as well) and it's really a dream to handle and producing a gloriously rich and deep soundtrack which made my F40 which I drove afterwards sound a bit weedy by comparison.

I drive with no driving aids except ABS at 1 (the real one also had ABS) although to some racing tires on a road car is also a form of aid I guess but then again I'm no purist and if I would race a real 728 Bhp Esprit on a track against other cars I'd rather have slicks fitted as well.
The interior is really gorgeous and the wiper is great too ;), mine is visually untouched (no bodykit, spoiler or even wheels as it already came with nice looking ones) and it's "Gunmetal Metallic".
I really recommend this car to everyone, in whatever state of tune.

I love the Esprit but it has for a while been a little *too* good in the GT series, not that I really mind! I seem to remember in GT4 you could get stock Esprits to well over 180mph, which is a little unrealistic. THey have always been light though and had very good accelleration

For the record the 350 Sport should be the fastest model but sadly only a standard in GT5, i've only seen it once too but others might be luckier. Waiting for that, and I will get the premium V8 too :)

Does very well generally in AI form too, seems to smoke most supercars.

I have three Standard-model Esprits (V8 GT, V8 SE and Sport 350) but I forgot about the premium one! :ouch:

There is also the angular-wedge, four-cylinder turbo Esprit ("Esprit Turbo") which is just like the (if not actually the) one from the Bond film. That was in GT4, but I've not seen it in the used car dealership yet. I'd have liked a "round" four cylinder turbo in the game, too.

I love this car, and all of mine are stock. I'll probably fettle the Premium one when I get it, though. 👍

Esprit's are one of my tuning 'loves'. Have a check of the GT4 section of GTVault. I have a dozen or so set-ups for them in there .

I haven't yet had chance to experiment with them in GT5 - just driven a V8 SE stock for a foretaste of pleasures to come :D.

Have to say it's a bit of a shame the Esprits have the US-spec rear lights, instead of the rectangular ones from UK/elsewhere, but it's a small gripe i guess

Yeah, you have to go into the depths of standard cars in order to see the UK/EU styled lights. My dad's got one of the older ones on his GT5 (and yes my dad does play GT5)

I'm running with the Esprit more than my Scuderia both offline and on.
Scuderia is alot more revvy and crisp all the way to the top and precise on the nose but something about the Esprit that's just immensely fun.

I'm with you. The Scuderia and Esprit are my two favorite cars in the game so far... the Ferrari is #1. Love how you can be precise or throw them around corners since they are so well balanced while sliding.

I have all the Espirits in the game.
Always been one of my favorite looking cars.
I'll be sure to try out your tune. 👍

Right, I think I am definitely sold on the Esprit now after reading all the comments. Now, to ponder the colour scheme...

I love the Esprits! They've been among my favourites in all the GT games that had them (there were none in GT1 IIRC). This time around we have 5 of them to play with:

Esprit Sport 350 '00
Esprit Turbo HC '87
Esprit V8 '02
Esprit V8 GT '98
Esprit V8 SE '98

I've got the V8 GT and the Sport 350 and will definitely collect the remaining ones :)
