I wonder if Park Place in Seattle will be getting any of these in. I'll have to pop by there sometime to investigate.

I think Isotope green, Persian blue or Canyon red would all look fabulous on the car. But I think I would have to go with BRG and a black or tan interior.

Lotus just announced prices for the Evora... £48k for the base model, £60k for the launch model.

Much as I like it, I think it's badly over priced as it's more expensive than a Caymen S in base trim and close to base Carerra money in top trim.

I was expecting prices starting in the high £30's.

isotope green or aspen white + charcoal for me thanks.

Though I have a special place for an elise so would rather that instead.

The Evora is the most beautiful lotus i have ever seen. It's gonna get to the US, right?

Some Evora EU launch photos from their press release/order package:

Ooh. Nice Tesla.

Isn't the Tesla an Elise? So Tesla took the platform of an Elise for their own car, and then Lotus gets to take the body of the Tesla to make their own car. That's not too bad an exchange.

Lotus didn't take the Tesla's body (but if you're refering to similarities with the Evora and Tesla Raodster, you'd be half-correct. The same design team did both cars).

The Tesla is based in the 111 chassis, which is the same tub that the Elise has been using since the beginning. Lotus does a lot of the work on the Tesla, including the design, production and the driving dynamics aspects.

This is the way Lotus figures it'll sell off a couple more cars. Make another special edition with vague differences to similarly-optioned regular cars, but mark it down a few thousand dollars than those equivalent-spec Elises. Not much to note other than its economic relevance.

:lol: "Purist edition"... and yet they still endow it with the 190bhp motor as the American audience could still never accept the 134bhp version in the Elise S we get over here in the UK. Never mind that it still reaches 60 in under 6 seconds - 134bhp is barely any power at all. Apparently.

Apologies for the slight tone of sarcasm. I'm still of the opinion that the truly pure Elises have always been the base models. They provide "everything you need and nothing you don't".

So it does. And sound deadening. And carpets :odd:

I don't remember my mate's Elise S1 having any of those. Though to be fair it probably wouldn't be quite as useable day to day. Probax seats are an especially good idea. If I could somehow have an S1 with the 134bhp Toyota engine from the S and some Probax seats, I'd be a happy man.

One day...

If I had one of those Lotus Evoras (based on Post #385 https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3332034&postcount=385 ), these would be my combinations:

* Persian Blue + Charcoal <<< my most likely one I'd want
* Persian Blue + Oyster
* Canyon Red + Charcoal
* Ardent Red + Oyster
* Racing Green + Oyster
* Phantom Black + Paprika

If it I had things my way, I'd have an Evora in Persian Blue with some Laser Blue trim and one or more Solar Yellow stripes. This, just to stay consistent with a blue and gold combination. Someone mentioned I'd have a color scheme like the Navy's Blue Angels. So yeah, kind of like that. Either that, or a two-tone design of Canyon Red with Ardent Red accents or trim and either Ice White or Solar Yellow stripes.

But really, nice car with great color combinations.

Wow, I've tried to research and I've come up with nothing; what doesn't the new edition have?

Truly, I will call an American Elise pure if and only if it's rolling on steelies. Of course, that's only a symptom of true minimalism, not a cause. Also, why have central locking in a car the size of a Miata?

The Evora Press Release was today in Scotland, and the news dropped like a funky beat. Clarkson raves, CAR praises, MT surprised. good news across the board, with the usual detail missed and qeustionable outsourcing that you'd expect from the motoring press. Even the Toyota V6 got thumbs up, which was feared to be too soft and underwhelming for the thoroughbred Lotus, claiming smoothness and comfortable power delivery.

Well, its good news if Clarkson likes it... Usually. It walks an interesting line between cars, as the CAR article pointed out, and I'm really looking forward to reading/seeing more of the car in later issues of the magazines, not to mention Top Gear.

Does anyone know whats up with them slapping 225/40 ZR18's up front, and 255/35 ZR19's out back? I just noticed it and its boggling my mind.

Why is that boggling your mind? Staggered wheel/tire combos are common on moderately powerful RWD cars, or MR cars. My MR-S has an OEM configuration of 185 up front and 205 in the rear. My room mate's E36 M3 has 225 up front and 245 rear.

Not the stagger itself, I get that. Even my car has that. 205 up front and 215 out back. Whats boggling me is the profile height, and the 18/19 inch difference in the rims.

40 and 35 for profile heights aren't really out there. The sidewall would be 90mm on the fronts and 89.25 in the rear. So just the center of the rear wheel is just half an inch higher than the front. Not really a big deal. Hell, the later year models of the MR2 Spyder had 185/55/15 up front and 215/45/16 in the rear, thus leading to the center of the rear wheel being 7mm or so higher up.

Just how things are done.

Eesh I gave up listening to what Top Gear magazine had to say a long time ago, they've gone sharply downhill in terms of quality in the last five years or so. It's like a glorified comic book for cars now. EDIT: I see you meant the TV show. Well... pretty much same deal...

When Evo and Autocar get their hands on the Evora I'll know for sure if it's any good or not, though it's looking hopeful.

You never look at tire profile alone... simply, as Azureman says, the sidewall heights are nearly identical given the section of rubber fitted. Looking at height, as stated on the designation, alone is misleading.

EDIT: apparently a 255/35 has about as much sidewall as a 205/45... which is thin, but nowhere near as thin as some kids run on their cars, and still perfectly useable on a daily basis.

But we already knew the Evora rocked by driving it in GT5!!!:lol:

So any idea when we get the Evora on Top Gear the TV show?
