Lounge vs Open lobby?

People have differing opinions, so you'll have to find what works best for you. I have always felt that lag and disconnections are rarer in lounges, probably because there aren't randoms dropping in and out putting additional strain on the network.

I've experienced problems with both, so it's likely a connection issue... either with players, Sony, or both.

What choice has the best performance and connection?

Thanks in advance racers.

I agree with the above inconclusive opinions. Biggest advantage of a Lounge only people you know can get in. As far as I can tell, most leagues use Lounges for their racing.

Lounges feel claustrophobic to me.

If I were in a league though I would probably prefer a private lounge.

I am also curious if both,Lounge and Open Lobby use the same connection "process" and if the hosts Internet speed affects the room as a whole or if the room is only as strong as its weakest connection (player)?

I've noticed the My Lounge recommends that I use a 3 star setting, whereas Open Lobby always recommends a 4 star setting, don't know why that is but it indicates a difference. Also, you can't choose the fixed host option (ie; star network) with My Lounge.

I'm pretty sure they use the same connection method. I'm not sure about the rest.

The last couple of pages (pages 131 & 132) in the "Worst you've dealt with online..." thread discuss this issue & the general consensus seems to be that public lobbies are better/more stable?
