Been serious with my woman for 18 years; happily married for 11 of 'em. I'd say we're extremely happy for 93% of the time, and the other 7% we want to kill each other.

Very good now (nearly 6 years) - fairly chequered singles history, though (although I will concede many incidents were probably self inflicted).
 
i don't think i've ever been truly in love, i might of really liked someone but i don't know if i loved them.

anyways my relationships never go longer than 5 months
 
As the saying goes...it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. It can be the be extremely painful, but it can also be one of the best possible feelings you'll ever experience. :inlove:
 
:) Like the song said," Love hurts". But it certainly dosen't suck. When you give a part of yourself that can hurt, but most times you get back what you give, and if you give love you most often get love in return. Like neon_duke I've been married 16yrs and we dated 2yrs prior to that. Don't confuse an unhappy/unhealthy relationship with love that sucks. The road of life has more twists and turns than Monaco in the rain. It's all in how you drive down this road that shapes your perspective. :D
 
Wow, I never knew that girls thought I was hot. I grew up as a nerd, but then my cousin showed his friend a picture of me. I'm gonna get together with them.
This probably has nothing to do with the thread but I will go with the advice I obtained here in the back of my mind ;)
 
so thats why youve been a sook lately GC, your 12 year old lady friend found someone else? love can be a ***** sometimes, others its great. have had a few runins with the missus' open hand but its all good.
 
Although I've had three girlfriends and the longest one of them lasted was one year, love does kinda suck. I'm still lookin for the right girl. Hopefully that'll happen sometime soon.
 
I voted true...seems to suck for me the several times I tryied to make something out of it, the other party(the girl) seemed to already have love somewhere else or just had hate...
 
Ah - getting burned is half the fun!!

Occasionally I'll head out with a mate of mine who's single, and watch him wade into the pool that is the Sydney singles scene. It's pretty scary, seeing this base human instinct at work, especially when powered by alcohol and bad dance music. Don't miss it at all.

Sydney's actually not bad hunting for blokes if you're in a reasonable job and present pretty well (i.e not wearing a $100 suit). I'm no oil painting, but I've been hit on a few times when out with him, and by women who you think 'jeez, where were you 7 or 8 years ago'.
 
Married 19 years, a house, six kids, three cats, etc. It's still usually great.
For those who are looking: if you can't see yourself in 20-30 years waking up with that person's mother or father, (cause we guys turn into variations of dad, and girls into their mothers) move on. If you have a best friend of the opposite sex, don't be afraid to advance the relationship.
After the twice or three times daily sex ends, you'll want someone you can talk to about everything.
