Guys I'm a low timer (<100hours) in the process of playing the main "campaign" of GT7.
I wasn't planning to play online but... why not at least try.
I see there are 2 modes: the Sport mode which includes a time trial, then match making, then a race every 1/2h or so. And, the multiplayer mode where I can just join rooms.

Is there one better over the other ? Youtube is pushing me videos of Multiplayer races and it seems there's a fair bit of bad players pushing around etc. But I don't know if that's the norm or what, and I don't know if it's the same in Sport mode.

What do you recommend I do ?

I don't "have" to play online. I'm just wondering if I'm missing out by not at least trying. I'm not interested in free for all races.

Yes, you will find bad drivers everywhere.

For lobbies, if you are lucky you may find a group of people with some etiquette about driving, but in public lobbies it is like mining for diamonds.

In sport mode in low level lobbies, there will be also bad drivers, so you'll need to improve your stats to access lobbies with higher level players to get less bad driving (intentionnal or not)

As for reasons to play against real humans rather than AIs in single player mode, I'd say that most of the events in career are filled with AIs driving badly and what we call "catch the rabbit" races : you start last and have to pass all moving chicanes to finish first.

Some events from career pose a real challenge though (like most pepper races and some missions).

Racing with humans is most of the time more engaging, but you have to deal with human error too.

@Lomic alright thanks for the feedback, this is what I was looking for. Based on what you say, I think I'm going try the Sport mode and see if I am patient enough to stand the possible bad drivers.

Ok so yes I have noticed something in some, but not all, career races. Just occasionally.
Let me explain: I am first in a race, almost finished, and suddenly an AI driver coming from behind accelerating at full (and unrealistic given the rest of the race) speed, overtakes me and wins the race. I find these races a bit frustrating. GT7 for me is a game so whatever. But still, a bit frustrating.
Is this something you noticed too ?

Never noticed something like that, but on some races, you may find some overpowered AI and depending if it starts in the pack or in front, you may have difficulties to win.

In many events, basic AI seems on rail and they won't react to your presence, will push through as if you were not there and are so stable that their car won't even be upset a little when ramming you.

And in other events they even signal left or right to let you go through by moving out of the way.

AI behaviour is very random and that's a bit confusing.

Last night I did a custom race with Sophy pro at Nordschleife, AI was extremely polite and thoughtful, was a great race (but passed all AIs before 1/3 of the lap so it became a time trial quickly, despite having the same car and tune).

Why does your account is from HK then ?

Ok thanks for the feedback, I had noticed that the AI cars don't react much to my occasional (and unintentional !) pushing indeed.
Why does your account is from HK then ?
(I have been living here since the mid 90s for professional reasons)
