I have been thinking for awhile about possibly finding a new job to broaden my skills, and help my career further down the road. I have felt for awhile that I am pressed againist a wall in my current postion with no sign of going anywhere.

Well I started talking and letting some key people know within the company what I had in mind, and what my future goals were, and now with help from these people, I may have a huge opputunity knocking on my doorstep today, or within a couple of days. (I am going to try to meet with the guy today)

If everything goes well, I will be a Asst. Supervisor for the south division of home construction. This postion would teach me a great deal, and ultimatley help me acheive long term goals that I have set for myself.

I am just kind of nervous, excited, and hopeful! I just wanted to share, its all I can think about!

Advice is appreciated, good luck wishes would provide confidence!

Hey, good luck! Construction management is all about organization. If you are naturally an organized person and can keep track of what you need to get done, you'll do great!

Keep us posted - and best of luck.

Good luck. Just try and relax and be yourself. I have done a lot of interviews and the best ones are the ones where I am relaxed. It makes you appear confident even if you might not be.

Good luck Magic!

Does this mean you and your people can build houses for us? How about a GTP store? ;)

Update:

The interveiw is set for Thursday morning at 7:30. The guy I spoke with, seemed like I was a shoe in, and that the interveiw should only take about 30 min tops!

On the oppsite side of the coin;
I came in from lunch and spoke to my current boss about coming in a hour late on thursday because, "my mom had to go to the doctors." In which he said fine... but then as I am walking out, he asks whats going on with Larry (the guy thats looking into hiring me), to my total surprise! It took 10 years off my life! I just hope he doesn't know exactly when the interveiw time is, because I don't want to labeled a liar! We shall see soon enough! :nervous:

:embarrassed:,

Well, I'm sure things will work out for the best. In hinesight, perhaps you should have just asked for some personal time off to come in late, because you had some personal matters to attend to. :)

I'm really excited for you and hope all the best.

~PS: Keep us updated. ;)

Off-topic:
Josh - just noticed the avatar! Quite original for not being original... (I know Klos will understand that comment, :))

Good luck, Magic!! I'm sure you'll get the job :D What exactly would this position entail?

Ahhh! I'm so excited for you... lol. I'm gonna log on at school on Thursday to see how things went.

Oooh... provocative! Good luck anyway, Magic! :)

By the way, if you think you've got a postion with no sign of going anywhere, you need to visit my office.

Sometimes, that's the best way to go. Good luck!

So here is the update:

Its not quite an Asst. Supervisor position that he has open. He has what is called "punch-out" position open. Basically I would be making sure the house is completely done, and cleaned up before releasing it the customer. It also includes taking the owners and giving them a construction tour, answer any questions they might have on how the house was constructed. Its something that would give me much needed experience, which would help me get into the Supervisor positions a lot easier. Pay is an issue though... I make more then what they usually give someone that does that job. He is going to see what he do though. Maybe sell me as a person is planning on moving up quickly. Therefore, just to give the salary up front and then move me up to that pay as quickly as possible.

I will know the result of his efforts on tuesday of next week. :)

Another Update:

Bad News! The job was offered to me, but with one very big condition! I had to take a 45% decrease in pay! I don't think so. Totally sucks.

Rumors have it, that my current boss got ahold of people in the new office I might have been working for, and snuffed plans of them paying me what I get now, with intentions on growing. It looks like I am going to have to go outside the company to grow.

That really sucks, Magic. :( I really hope that you can find some kind of alternative...

Absolutely.

Still, as my grandfather always used to say "While you're in a job, you're being paid to look for something better", and he became chairman of what became British Airways.

Good luck in the hunt! :)
