If you went out with your money and bought a luxury car, which would you buy:

BMW - e.g. M5
Mercedes Benz - e.g. McLaren SLR
Lexus - e.g. GS 350
Aston Martain - e.g. Vanquish
Jaguar - e.g. XJR
Audi - e.g. TT
Toyota - e.g. something fast
Honda - e.g. another nice car
Land Rover - e.g. a big one

comment on which cars you would like similar to these and maybe but why.

e.g.

Mercedes - McLaren SLR - 600hp - do i need to put why?

yes. it has only got 2 seats and the interior looks very cheap.

i would only buy an SLR for the sound if i had a few millions and would not know what else to do with them...

i would take a top of the range 7 series upgraded by bmw individual.

I'm going with you on the SLR, i happen to have sat in one of these beasts only last week. You could never get tired of that sound and even when your sitting in traffic theres a little button to pop up the rear air brake/ stabiliser thingy so you can show off :) 👍 it could do with a manual 'box though

You only need two seats, and i can tell you it does not look cheap when your sat inside 👍

Scratch the Toyota off that list.

The luxury Toyota is a Lexus and you have that already.
And if anything Honda, put Acura.

But I give you credit for someone finally putting Aston Martin. 👍

IMO, I think a great one the Bentley Continental Flying Spur.
ITs a wonderful car from Bentley, and all the items inside it is amazing.

IF I would buy a luxury car, I'd probably buy one of these :

Brabus SV12 / EV12

mercedesbenz-w211ev12brabus01.jpg

Why ? 100% understatement, nice looks and a Biturbo V12 with 640 hp, 1026 Nm torque, 0-100 km/h ( 60 mph ) in 4,2 sec and V-max 340 km/h....

Emohawk
BMW 750i circa '99

You could only get the long wheelbase with the V12 on the 95-01 models, which I think sucked. It's okay though - the 740i was plenty cool. I know this loser who owned two.

id get a 60s mercedes 300SEL 6.3.
or an early seventies jaguar XJ with a more modern powerplant and electrics.

if i had to pick from a new one, id get the most expensive one, sell it, and get myself a fleet of old luxury cars from the sixties and early seventies.

imagine this boat with a more modern powerplant and brakes, a thumpin' stereo and wider wheels. not chromed!!!

^Props to neanderthal. That's an awesome choice, IMO.

My choice would depend on the funding. If I were a multi-billionaire, it would undoubtably be a Rolls-Royce Phantom Black/Black with some Black rims and almost no chrome.

If it were just me, buying a lux-car, it'd be a 1968 Lincoln Continental 4-door (it has suicide rear doors). It'd probably sport some re-renditions of the original rims, only without it being "hubcaps." It'd be sitting on an airbag suspension and it'd definitely be black/black.

Audi - e.g. TT

A TT is hardly a luxury car, my crappy Polo is more comfortable than the two TT's my parents have owned.

New i'd go for an S-Type Jag, used a Turbo Toyota Soarer, or maybe a Ford Scorpio with the 2.3 Cosworth V6 in it.

That's why they invented engine swaps :D
Information filed and cross referenced, thanks.

A Bristol Fighter would be pretty cool, but well outside this hypothetical made up price range I've come up with.
One of the pretty rare '3 Audi A8 W12s would be cool, but I still can't think of anything I'd like better then the 7 series (for that price).

Lexus LS430. 7-Series, no more. 👎

P.S. I'm not trying to sound like Emohawk or anything. :D

You're going to swap a 322-horsepower engine out of an existing 750iL for the 282-horsepower one in the 740i? 40 horsepower has never been so expensive!

I think the XJ-R is on top of my list of high end luxury sedans. I know a person that ones a 95/96 model and I love it to death. I would definitely take one of those, I'm not sure on what the newest version looks like in the red colour (Radiance they call it). It has to be the R model, as there is no chrome trim around the grill on that one.

not only that, theres supercharger and turbo applications that will bump the horsepower up to V12 levels.

Most likely an A8, (or an S8, if a new one comes out again) because they're beautiful cars. The 7 serie handle better and most SL have better engines, but none of them look as good inside and ouside. And the Audi 's better suited for our winters.

My first choice would have been the new RS4, but you have to be masochist to enjoy a car like this on roads around where I live.

I'd have a Aston Martin DB9 for weekends and off the top of my head, a mildly Brabus'd Mercedes Benz AMG C55 as a daily driver.

Mercedes SLR for some weekend fun.......

Aston Martin DB9 or DBAR1 for week day use (dont wana look over the top ).....

Range Rover or Range Rover Sport for long jorneys and mountains!...

Well I would get one of two cars.

Either this....
vw_phaeton_1.jpg

or this...
GS-473.jpg

I like the Phateon just beacuse I think it looks good, has good power, and what not. I'm sure M5 can find something wrong with it :D.

The GS is one of the better look cars I've seen recently and even though the LS model are better the GS owns it with it's stylin. I really like the way Lexus is taking their stlyin.

It's a nice car - I came very close to buying the first Phaeton W12 in the northeast when I lived in New York.

/// M5,No doubt about it
5.0 Liter
V10
500 HP
A Supercar to carry five in total comfort, yet still kick a lot of the so-called sports car's asses........................GOT TO LOVE IT :sly:

All you guys are setting your sights too low - if your going to go luxury, you might as well go all the way - Rolls-Royce or Bentley, forget Maybach - they're Rolls' for the tasteless and S-Class's for those with more money than sense.

A Facel-Vega is about as cool as you can get for luxury motoring.

360bhp in 1958 👍

Well that is your opinion... I would never like to have a Rolls or Bently... for me these cars are for royals and in general very old people ...
As I posted before I would prefer a Brabus SV12 or EV12 ... luxury, power and understatement... 640 hp baby

I've been in a Brabus, as a passenger, and although they are luxuriously equiped the ride is too harsh to consider it a true luxury motor - and although they are suttle - why would you want people to think you drive a taxi? - they're built for fat German business men to storm the autobarns in. A 612 Scaglietti does the same job much better.
