I've been in a Brabus, as a passenger, and although they are luxuriously equiped the ride is too harsh to consider it a true luxury motor - and although they are suttle - why would you want people to think you drive a taxi? - they're built for fat German business men to storm the autobarns in. A 612 Scaglietti does the same job much better.

Are you calling the Brabus a TAXI????
What the hell are you on???

You know it is the combination power&luxury- a Brabus is very fast-no true sports car, but better than Rolls Royce and Bently, and I prefer understatement... you know there are a lot of newly rich people with big cars out there...
The Ferrari is an option, my post referred to the Rolls / Bently....
Better job ? Not necessarily .. engine sound and handling ( very important ) may be better but since we talk about luxury, track performance is not everything... and for the Autobahn, as you said, the Brabus has more to offer :
Ferrari 612 Sc. : 540 hp, 4,2 sec 0-100, vmax : 320 km/h, torque : 588 Nm
Brabus SV12 : 640 hp, 4,2 sec 0-100, vmax : 340 km/h, torque : 1026 Nm

Yeah I know,Been there, done that.STILL I'm sure any blind person can tell a Brabus Merc form your normal run of the mill Merc

As for you being on line....................WHAT IS YOUR POINT???? :sly:

P-Diddy's S-class + Xzibit's Pimp-My-Ride = Maybach(or Brabus version)

Gordon Gekko would ride in one of these:

 Yeah maybe... but you know.. don't say the car is bad if you don't like the driver.... You know every car has nice and idiotic owners, so that is no good argumentaion... I'm sure there are several hiphop musicians with Rolls Royces and Bentley out there...
Its fine for me that you prefer these types of cars but as you said
All you guys are setting your sights too low - if your going to go luxury, you might as well go all the way - Rolls-Royce or Bentley, forget Maybach - they're Rolls' for the tasteless and S-Class's for those with more money than sense.
I just had to say that there are different opinions out there... I would prefer a EV12 or SV12, but before I would spend 350000 Euro on such a car, my garage would be full of cars like STi's, Evo's, Skylines, Rx7's, Supras etc... yeah and a TVR Sagaris....

Look, heres a brabus SLR:

Still prefer your TVR?????

oh come on cracker, you are going too far.

the roller is way too large, it looks like a house. thats something for kings, not for someone with taste. bentleys are better, but all the ganster-rappers are driving bentleys nowadays, thasts even worse than taxis.
and the german taxis are usally e-class mercs in yellow. nobody mistakes a black s-class for a taxi.

the only thing that annoys me is the seatbelt thingie. its exactly the same as in every other car. i think it should look a little bit more sophisticated in a luxury car (but they probably look the same in every car on the planet except the maybach and roller(or even there?)).

Yeah, when it comes to sportscars, Brabus is not in the race anymore... too heavy... even the stock SLR is not good on the track...
I am a fan of japanese sports cars, so I would always prefer for example a Skyline GTR Z-tune over other sports cars...so that is just a personal thing... and I like TVR's : they have fantastic design, they build their own chassis & engines without ABS ( until now at least ) or other electronics and they are lightweight sports cars... Again just personal taste....

You could only get the long wheelbase with the V12 on the 95-01 models, which I think sucked. It's okay though - the 740i was plenty cool. I know this loser who owned two.
Why do it get the impression that you just might be talking about yourself? ;)

I'd get myself a 2000 M5. Decently affordable, and I like the looks better than the new M5. In fact, I'd take one over just about anything else. It made my 10 favortite cars list as my daily driver/track car. And its one fo the few off that list that I will likely own one day.

I would fight Joshua (skicrush), except he correctly picked up that I was talking about myself. :D

PS - I want a third...

Volvo S80 T6. Sleeper and fast, unnoticable (especially in black, a very good color for it and probably the only good one) but very very nice on the inside with an excellent ride and surprisingly good driving habits... I especially like the brakes on it, not their performance but their feel. Very comfortable and quiet. It's quite a little surprise.

I can't blame you--my former boss's wife had a 740il, and I drove them to the airport several times. I decided I wanted a 740i until I realized I could pick up an M5 that was just as old for about the same price. I like the new ones, too, and I don't hate Chris Bangle, but I love how understated the old M5 was, and what a sleeper it still is--most people never pick up the difference between an M5 and any other 5 series. Doug, am I right in thinking you traded a 740 for an M5?

Incidentally, the CEO of my current company drives a silver 740il--SOOO pretty. But I can't help thinking I'd skip the "l" part if it was me.

Luxury Car: BMW M5 or an SL55 AMG
Super/Hyper Car: Porsche Carrera GT, Pagani Zonda, or Ford GT

Basically, yes. Then the second one sort of replaced the M5, except in a different state. It was weird times. :D

It's a nice car - I came very close to buying the first Phaeton W12 in the northeast when I lived in New York.

What do you do for a living that gives you the kind of income to afford that? I'm not saying I don't believe you...I'm saying I have to know.

He does market research for Nissan and made some good investments with the cash from the settlement for an accident he was in.
IIRC.

It's a long story, and I've already recounted it a zillion times at GTP. These days it doesn't matter - I'm here to discuss cars, not myself. If you really care feel free to PM me.
