At least it looks fixable. Someone probably got a cheap-ish Lamborghini out of it/

I've seen shots of the other side of the car (though I cannot find them - or the one you posted - on WreckedExotics right now) and it looks pretty bad. I did hear it was a total loss, meaning frame damage. So, 'someone probably got overpriced Lamborghini parts out of it' is a more apt statement. :D

What an tragically embarrassing life for one of the great supercars. Made to wear ridiculous wheels, cruised round town rather than driven hard round a track and then crashed on the way to a party instead of into a tyre-wall.

Not what Ferruccio had in mind, no.

Is this the photo you meant? It does look alot worse from this angle

Yes - you can see pretty substantial damage there.

I would consider myself lucky, though, if I were Young Jeezy - had it been a Ferrari, it probably would've broken in two!

:D (good thing McLaren's offline right now, he'd have my ass for that one)

True, very true.

I wonder what the percentage is of supercars wrecked by new moneyied musicians buying cars way beyond their skill levels.

Recently I was in a discussion on another forum about the increase in the threshold of power of exotic cars. According to this site, the Ferrari F430 laps Fiorano faster than the Ferrari F40. That means what was, twenty years ago, reserved for only the most serious drivers and most moneyed collectors is now available in the most 'basic level' Ferrari. These cars have really become more and more powerful, and more and more accessible. God only knows how many lives the Porsche Carrera GT has claimed, but musicians seem to stay away from those. The Enzo has killed at least two, and seriously injured many more.

It is quite amazing how much things have progressed in the world of supercars in less than 20 years.

I wonder if this means that Ferraris and Lamborghinis are becoming the new plane crash as ways of removing musicians from this world then? :)

I'm not sure - can you think of anyone famous who's died as a result of these things yet?

I know Jay Kay ripped up his Lamborghini Diablo SE30 pretty badly; we all know about the Eddie Griffin Ferrari Enzo crash; we've got the Young Jeezy Murcielago; of course there's the Richard Hammond Jet Car crash...

A lot of celebrities own these things though. Jay Leno, Nicholas Cage, David Letterman, Rod Stewart, Ralph Lauren, Ellen DeGeneres, Sylvester Stallone, Nick Mason, Jeremy Clarkson, Paris Hilton... all names that come immediately to my mind when thinking of 'exotic car owners.' But no one's died yet...

Hmm Lisa "Left Eye" was driving a rental Mitsubishi SUV, Robert Clark was driving an Infiniti, Dennes Dale Boon was killed back in 1985 and Grace Kelly and James Dean were decades ago. There goes my theory :)

James Dean is the only celebrity I can think of killed in any sort of respectable car, but, of course, that was in the 1950s.

Grace Kelly, you'd think, was killed in some exotic, since she was the Princess (associated with money) of Monaco (associated with exotic cars), but in fact she was driving a Rover 3500 when she died.

Trivia: James Dean's last words were, 'that guy's gotta stop... he'll see us.' I recount that every time I'm in the car with a friend and I decide not to do something risky on account of another driver's potential for crashing into me.

I can think of a few that have crashed and survived (like Kelsey Grammer writing off his Viper) but I think you are right on James Dean being the only death at the wheel of a cool car.

How many BMWs has Billy Joel written off?

What exotics car(s) does she have?

I believe Rowan Atkinson aka Mr. Bean has written off a Mclaren F1 a couple years ago as well?

What exotics car(s) does she have?

I'm particularly interested as well. I was watching her show the other day and she was doing a tour of the studio, she showed the parking lot and there was a bright orange Lamborghini Miura which just about made my jaw drop to the floor. I've been wanting to know if she does own that car, hell I never knew she was vehicles in general!

**Wasn't she and her girlfriend rear ended in their Porsche 911 by a drunk driver last year? I think I've seen pictures of that.

Joel is typically famous for crashing Mercedes sedans - but good addition.

Ellen Degeneres drives a Ferrari 612.

"The gregarious host typically arrives at the studio at 11 a.m., writes the monologue, prepares with producers for the day’s guests, hits hair and makeup, then tapes the show. By the time she heads home in her brand-new smoke gray Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, it’s past dinner time."

Yes - quite true. Not written off though - several F1s have been crashed, some badly, but they have all been fully repaired. Such is life when vehicles are so valuable that a simple VIN plate is worth 80% of the value of the car!

Mike Hawthorn was killed in a modified Jaguar Mk1 3.4 (not this car) in 1959:

He was after a 300SL he saw ahead and lost control.

Well, I think it's cool.

Which is really just about the funniest thing I've read in a good time.

Was that on a public road though?

They were so illegal on the road they even took away Bill Gates', but he did bribe the government to get them to pass a law so he could drive it. Who knows?

Yes.

Doug...No burning desire to see a Porsche 959? Three more years to go, and then they're 50-state certified for road use.

There's a red one driven semi-regularly in Colorado, but no, I have no "burning" desire. Obviously it would be cool but if I listed cars I think it'd be 'cool' to see we'd be here weeks.

The 959 is one of the one cars I have never seen in the metal that I would absolutely love to see. I've always had a penchant for Porsche's uber car since my childhood when it's rival was the F40. I've seen two of those on the road, but never the 959. I'm not even sure there are any here.

Yes - that is rapper Young Jeezy's Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. I saw the vehicle on September 15:

And again on September 17:

The vehicle was crashed on or around September 28, when Young Jeezy was leaving his birthday celebration at Justin's, P. Diddy's restaurant, to go to an afterparty. The Lamborghini was totalled, but Young Jeezy did make it to the afterparty. To my knowledge he was sober and the accident was his fault. Young Jeezy previously drove this light green ('Verde Ithaca') Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster - which was featured in one of his music videos - but he sold that car in 2006 or early 2007.

That looks like the Valet in front of Macy's @ Lenox Mall. Am I right?

I live next to Justin's (where it was wrecked) so I pretty much see nice cars daily. It's uncommon for a Mercedes 600 or BMW M6 to pull in there without $10k wheels lol... I probably have a few pictures but lemme see if I can add.

Jayne Mansfield died in a car crash too, in a slightly less exotic Buick Electra 225.

Ava Gardner crashed, yet didn't die in a Merc 300SL Gullwing.

m@!

The first picture, yes. Good spot on the Countach - as you know it's mentioned earlier in this thread. Extremely rare vehicle.
