Machine Skill?

So you know when you look at your status through your garage and on the right side, under driver profile, there are some numbers and things like Machine Skill, course skill, and battle skill?
I know they are related to your B-Spec driving, but how do you improve them? Do they just get better the more you drive in B-Spec, or is there actually skill involved?
So if anyone has experimented with this it could help us all improve our drunk driving b-spec driver.

My stats...
Machine Skill
72
Course Skill
58
Battle Skill
58

well its not stated in the book or anything but mine has gone higher jus due to me using b-spec but you have to let him rip on lots of diff tracks if you do the same sort of tracks most of the time nothing will change, just do b-spec on lots of diff tracks and his skill will rise

Does letting him run on the practice tracks help?

Like can I let him practice on the ring overnight and wake up to find a super whiz for the ring?

As I am working through GT4 (20.7%), I want my B-spec driver (AKA: DAMMIT!) to be capable of driving my cars in enduros but I still want to get 100+ A-spec points at the end the races I share with him rather than just 1 or 2 points.

Does anyone out there (and I KNOW there are a few of you! ) know how to best train the B-spec driver?

I have just about 11,000 A-spec points and I don't want to blow it. (I know that A-spec points don't offer any rewards within the game but it I love the challenge! :dopey: ). I really wish I could A-spec the entire game but I know that is not going to possible so any help here would be greatly appreciated! 👍 :dopey:

You can't start the race in Aspec, change to Bspec, then finish in Aspec and still be able to get Aspec points. In order to recieve Aspec points you must do EVERY lap in Aspec mode.

CRAP! That sucks!

So then I really shouldn't worry about training Dammit? That's bull****! :grumpy: 👎

Machine Skill - This is how good your driver is with the various cars he drives. The more you let him drive and the amound of cars he drives will make his level go up.

Course Skill - This is how good your driver is at knowing when to turn, brake, everything else on the courses. The more you let him drive on courses and letting him drive on various courses will make his level go up.

Battle Skll - This is how good your driver is at of course passing and dealing with cars on the track. The way that this will go up the fastest is in smaller courses where your driver is confronted with alot more traffic/cars to deal with.

Was some one starting a better GT4 manual on this board than the sony manual? If not.. I could do it off the top of my head and have it done w/ all the pics and such in like 4 hours.. then have a pay pal donation at the bottom.. lol I lost my job and need fast money.. and of course GT4 comes out while I have no job.

Edit: Yo Nismo, you got a bigger file of that rotor turning? Im doing a speech on how the rotary engine works next week. Big rotorhead here. Planning on putting my spare 13b in a goKart right now..

That makes sense. Time to use a big car on Autumnring Mini! :indiff:

Try here: http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.com/animations.html
The animation I use did come from another rotary site but I don't remember which one. Obviously GTP has it here as well.

What region do you race in? And what class? I run (on occassion) in WDC IT-S RX-7.

So does letting him work at the practice track meets I could see a bit of an increase in his stats?

shi.t, my B-Spec guy is at over 7400+

Mine is just around 3800. :(
And his battle skill is in the low 30's. I guess I shouldn't put him on pole then. :grumpy: Let that bastard fight for his loss! :ill:

Actually, that was my next question: Even when the b-spec driver loses, does he gain any skill?

No on both accounts. Overall points and skill points will be awarded even if you don't win the race (unlike a-spec, where you gotta win to get them).

the driver does improve with practice I experamented with this last night, his track skill goes up the more tracks he/she drives and machine skill seems to be atributed to the amount of differnt cars he/she drives, no amount of practice helps the bttle skill though, Nothing like on the job training! :)

some1 plz tell me y my b-spec driver constantly "luv-taps" other drivers....if ya gonna ram em on tha rear end ya g2 do it hard nouf to push em of tha road, dummy! :P

does the b-spec driver have a determined sex? as people keep syaing she/he.

very pointless post this :D

So does anyone know if there is a maximum these stats can reach (eg is it a percentage or an infinite score)? I'd like to know how well I'm doing exactly. :)

My status:
Driver's overal skill: 8922
Machine skill: 97
Course skill: 89
Battle skill: 87

B-spec mileage: 18,237KM
A-spec Mileage: 3,097
A-spec points: 6921
Game completion: 66.7

Tip for increasing b-spec points, go race with a poor car. You will receive points whatever is your final position.

I spent a few hours one night "training" my B-Spec driver. I entered him in "Family Cups" at various tracks in various cars and it did improve his scores. In a few hours I was able to get him from about 6300 points with 70/63/63 to about 7400 with 84/73/72. Since then he hasn't gained any **/**/** points from any races I have put him in, but I haven't used him much and it's mostly been on familiar tracks in cars he has driven a lot.

I think the "course" score kind of maxes out on a track if you do the same one multiple times, but it doesn't mean he's mastered that course and improving his points by racing on another course would improve his performance on every course.

Machinery definitely goes up with more with each different car he drives, but it may be that he maxes out on AWD cars for example and more time in an FR may make the number go up more.

Battle skill just seems to go up slowly with little regard to anything. When I did my training night I tried setting it to "hard" vs. "easy" and the battle skill points would go up by one every couple of races either way, whether he passed everyone else before the first turn, or fought the whole race to come in fifth, but maybe there is something I'm missing there.

So yeah, if you want to train him, Family Cups work, but change cars and tracks often.

Now THAT is funny!!

To the people who have B-spec drivers with skills 70 or higher, will it drive much more consistently regardless of the course? And does it lap closer to your lap times? I have read that people complain about B-spec racers wrecking their cars on city courses. :yuck:
