Have you ever had the urge to post this really uber 1337 topic, but don't wanna get flamed for doing so?So you search, find a thread just like yours, and reply. But,what do you say?
See,many people have the problem of resurrecting VERY old threads that are useless in themselves.Bringing back a thread called "Apples pwn Oranges Yo!" that is a year old is NOT the way to get a good name on GTP.
Also, resurrecting a thread with something useless like "lOl" or "rotflmaobbqlolwtfomg" or just a stupid smiley.Give your post some content people!Resurrecting a year old thread by saying "lol" is about as stupid as diving in front of a moving train.
So,now begins the guide of resurrecting threads.
Part 1: What to Resurrect, and what NOT to resurrect...
Bringing back useless threads is very, very dumb.Don't do it.Say there is a thread in the Comedy forum that has a funny video about root beer, and is a year old.Replying is futile.Even if you have some 8 chapter long story about how the video is incorrect, hold it in your pants.Nobody cares about that thread any more.At all.
Now,useful threads on the other hand are OK to bring back,as long as there is SOME content in your post other than "lol" or "omg".Say the Official Mission Hall Thread hasn't been replied to in 6 months, but you have a uber strategy to add to it.Go ahead! If you get flamed for it,refer to this post. Now if you post something ignorant like "lol" or "that was cool thx" then I HOPE you get flamed for it.That is what we call wasting bandwidth.
Part 2: Ressurection Content...
Resurrecting is usually OK as long as the thread in question has something to provide the users with (i.e:Mission Hall Thread). But as said before, always add content to your post. Not only do useless posts use bandwidth, but they clutter up threads too!Think to yourself: If it isn't adding content to the thread,DON'T POST!It may take a couple times to learn this, but you'll catch on quick.
Part 3: Need Help?
If you ever need advice on whether to resurrect a thread or not,Contact the moderators, admins or even me for that matter.Just make sure your post is going to add to the forums BEFORE you click "Submit".
Have a Nice Day!
