I was playing last night with 4 friends to the wee small hours, and I had something happen which has never happend to me before in a FPS! Raven (the enemy) verbaly surenderd.....yeah I know. There squad captain asked to speak t me as valor's squad captain and under a cease fire he offered there surrender and escorted me to there coms tower.........it was the most sureal and hilarious thing Ive seen in a computer game.

My squad and acompanying squad held the cease fire and I can only liken it to a christmas eve football match in the trenches of world war 1.......LOL

I talked 2 of my airsoft friends who are both ex services to download this yesterday, there big MW2 fans so I had my work cut out but by 4am this morning they were both convinced MAG was better than sliced bread, I somehow sneaked them into 1 256 game (subsequent trys failed) despite there low rank and I'm pleased to say we held our burnoff tower till the very end thus stoping the enemy from winning. the last 10 minuets of the match saw practicaly everyone decend on us but the turret gun placed nearby really played the decisive role.

OK war stories over I spent most of my time as squad comander and by comander XP steadily rose to 70 and with chaperoneing the 2 newbies around my kill count was particularly poor throughout, but it was still enjoyable. I did notice alot of clans on however, full squads made up of jst one clan and in the games it really showed on both sides.

Final note on the GTP clan, theres currently 4 - 6 people in it unfortunatly if your not in valor then you can't get in......unless theres a GTP clan also in Raven and Sever? anyway if your looking at seting up a clan yourself you need to make sure all your friends and potential clan mates agree upon a team to enter, that also goes for simply playing online in a friends lobby. If your not in the same group you simply can't join matches together. So if theres a few of you getting this game what group shoulf GTP collectively go for? I'm happy with valor or raven and I'm undecided yet as to which to go for in the final game. This is very important however as the game plays best with friends, and if your friends are members of a different faction you'll be left out in the cold.

I spent a lot of the weekend playing the Beta...

And after a slow start in the Sabotage levels - the game came alive in Domination...

I started out as a machine gunner - but quickly realised that was rubbish - so I converted to sniperdom... after a few too many deaths by being too close to people - I tried out the Assault Rifle class - and found my niche!! An Assault Rifle with the 4x scope and a fore grip is pretty good at distance - and obviously works at short distance - so a great balance for whatever you want to do... later on I got the Grenade Launcher - which is an awesome laugh (even if I do kill myself too often with it!)

The first time I played Domination - I didn't know what was going on at all - I ran around a lot killed a few people and chucked a lot of grenades around!!! Eventually we won!! - Probably through no fault of my own!!

The next Domination game we were defending - starting off in the bunker we all bombblasted out to the burnout tower - and found our bunker broken within minutes - we held the burnout tower for a short while - and then we got overwhelmed (with reinforcements so far away it was only a matter of time) - the cooling tower was pretty quick - so then it was onto defending the Pump Controls... this we were much better at - with a few guys at the gates fixing them - then standing back for the enemy to blow them again and pour in (this reminds me of the beginning of StarWars when they board the Tantive IV (Princess Leia's Corvette)) - fixing/defending... We eventually held out and won a minor victory!! From this game on I was hooked!!

I took a look at the official forums today and I can see several comments on misbalanced maps - in some ways I agree - however I also think that the balance of the factions hasn't been fully implemented - I think that Raven will have better weapons (but softer maps) and SVER will have weaker guns - but harder maps to balance it all. (Valor being middle of the road)

Once thing though - The first time you see an enemy air strike come in it's seriously unsettling!!! Bangs crashes and vibrations everywhere (if you survive!) - awesome.

With the full game I think will come a greater appreciation of the tactics and greater teanwork (Playing in Domination people seemed a lot more switched on (as they had to play a bit to get to level 10 (unless they got snuck in as a friend))...

I hooked up with a couple of American guys and we played a few games as a group together - I can really see this feature working well - if you have a group of 8 mates and you've all got headsets then the battlefield is your oyster!!

I see people saying that there are "subpar graphics"!?! To that I disagree - I think the graphics are pretty good - but anyways I don't give a **** about graphics - Gameplay is everything - and this game has it in spades...

I was going to buy MW2 after Christmas - but I'm glad I played this first - I won't be getting COD now (and I'd be woefully out ranked as well now!)

Roll on January the 26th - or more open Beta please!!

I don't know if it's been brought up, but is the beta over? When i try to log in it says something about "launcher authentication failed" or something of that sort.

yes, it's over. Sucks cause I didn't get to play it til about 3 hours before it ended.

The last beta phase for Zipper Interactive's pseudo-MMOFPS MAG has ended, and the developer has compiled some facts and figures you may find fascinating. According to a recent post on the studio's blog, over one million people downloaded the MAG beta client worldwide. Of that group, around 619,000 people gained at least one point of experience, 52,846 became eligible for Squad Leader status, 10,249 became Platoon Leaders, 3,181 hit the rank of Officer in Charge, and only 143 players reached the level 60 experience cap.

Zipper also broke down the populations of the three factions: Raven and Valor each netted about 38 percent of the game's player base, while SVER only picked up 24 percent. However, despite its smaller size, SVER ended up winning out overall for the Sabotage gametype. Well, now we know which private military contractor is the plucky underdog.

Some could point out that this might lead us to believe that the SVER sabotage map appeared to be the hardest to take (I might also add that I found the SVER Domination map the hardest too)

Interesting facts though - is the 60 cap going to be in the game?

Not sure about the cap......obviously theres quite a number of things which will be new come release day next friday. I have to admit severs domination map was prety much the hardest to take, Think I managed it 3 times in total. but it also got me some of the biggest kill death ratios (in my favour) Having not seen all the maps and game modes plus people were hitting them with prety poor weapon loadouts we may find the balance is addressed in the final game.

I believe so, as 3 Gold Trophies for MAG are Get one character from each faction to Level 60

That also leads me to think there could be the poserbility of running a character from each faction at the same time......I say this as in the beta the character selection screen right at the start looked to be desighned to have 3 or more characters in it, logicaly that would be one for each faction. I certainly wouldn't get a character to level 60 only to have to delete him simply to change faction to get the trophys...........but who knows?

Yes - I think that you will be able to have a "barracks" of sorts - so you can create numerous users - this would also be good if one of your mates comes round and has a game.
