Sorry for the newbie question, but this is my first post to this forum

I had GT 5 Prologue a couple of years ago and haven't raced in a while. Just got the new GT 5 and am excited to get back into it.

I have a question about maintenance. When you buy new tires for a car, do they actually wear out over time so that you have to buy new ones? If so, how can I tell whether the tires are worn out?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Is there a way to search this forum? I couldn't find it.

There is a Search box at the upper right of every page. Additionally, there is a Search Forum and Search Thread drop down at the upper right of every forum index and thread page. Maybe one of those would work for you.

In answer to your question, no, you do not need to pay to replace tires once you buy them for your car.

Tyres are automatically replaced (for free) when you finish a race or make a pit stop. Once you buy a set of tyres for a car they stay with them forever.

However, during a race your tyres can get worn out, look on the middle left of your screen during a race.

There will be 4 blue small rectangles, (at the start of the race), this is your tyre wear indicator.

It shows how much tread you have left and also what temperature they are.

Blue = cold
White / light grey = warm
Red = too hot

As your tyres slowly wear out in a race, these indicators will reduce, this happens more online than it does in A spec races, same indictators apply for B Spec..

When these indicators are approximately 75% down, think about changing your tyres.

The top two are your front tyres, bottem two are your rear tyres.

Thanks for the quick responses. BTW... is there a manual somewhere that is more detailed than what comes in the game?

Don't think so, experience of playing the game and forums such as this are your best bet really...
