Just letting everyone know that there is some maintenance happenning on the servers.
As of right now, so online functions are not working.

Lots of people have complained about losing cars in the last few days including myself
so hopefully this gets fixed and maybe an update is imminent! 👍

Nice.. on a Saturday afternoon too, when people are home form work and want to relax with GT5 :(

Yeah, guess it is setting up 'My Home' on all territories as web site is down too, though i'm hoping it's in preparation of something way more exciting.....DLC?

guessing it's for the B-spec remote races. the sig edition competition should be starting this month.

I still dont get how they are going to implement the browser b-spec races. Guess i'll just have to wait and see...

It would be nice if they were finally turning matchmaking on, or the PD hosted races like we had in Prologue.

I guess that you will need to leave your PS3 on with GT5 running and connected to the PSN.
With the web browser, after logging in with your PSN username to the your "GT5 My Home" you will be able to remotely start and manage B-spec races if your PS3 is not being used. I think a dashboard view like what is already available in B-spec races (minus the "live video" area) will be provided in order to see times, positions, etc.

This was the only realistic option i could think of and it kind of defeats the whole purpose, no? I was hoping to do B-spec without stressing my system too much...

this is how i understand it'll work. although like Live_Fr0m_NY says would be nice to not have to burn out your ps3 doing X amount of hours b-speccing.

btw Live_Fr0m_NY , who is that woman in your avatar pic? i saw her on some tv clips show not long ago but didn't catch her name.

I believe that is Olivia Munn.

just noticed something on the profile section in Gt5. the B-spec drivers appear even if you haven't selected 'share with friends'. perhaps to do with the update. perhaps they're showing there because we can't connect to the server. hmm

edit: also the cars shown below are all your 'favourites'. have they done away with the share with friends option?

That happens when you're not connected to the PSN GT5 online servers.

Could this be what crashed my game. I was halfway through "All Stars" and it just froze. I had to turn of the PS3 with the power switch. After a while I tried again and the game locked up at the "do not turn off the playstation while the Harddrive light is flashing" message. Seems fine again now appart from the server down message.

Y'all are a little paranoid about your PS3s. I realize the hardware isn't perfect, but it's pretty solid.

That is an invitation for security breaches and external hack attempts.

Th ability to "manage" your PS3 from outside seems a little dubious at best - considering that the PS3 can be see other devices on your network.

This just screams unsecure and is just begging for some bored Romanian hacker to do the nasty on 12 million PS3's all at once.

hmm fix, update, maintenance...

whatever it is on a saturday = FAIL FAIL FAIL not on a freaking Saturday

mine has been offline since 5am

come on PD should of done this stuff on a week day.

...it has to be big right?

Why else would they do it on a weekend during peak hours?

This is GT5 we're talking about, so I've lowered my standards as far as guessing what happened. They probably shut it down because stupid trades weren't going through and the (only) guy who fixes things doesn't come in until monday. I sure could have used this working on a Saturday though.

Ahh I noticed the same thing (b/c thats always blank for me) I got all excited that an update happened.

You've never remote controlled your PS3 via a PSP remotely across the internet...? The feature to remotely turn on and off your PS3 and access all your media content already exists...

But it is currently managed by you and the connection is between the PS3 and the PSP, not proxied via 3rd party website. This setup sounds like you need to be proxied through Sony's infrastructure - but again, I could be sorely mistaken.

If it is direct connect not requiring a PSN connection, then this is no different to the current setup.

One method is inherently secure, the other not.
