I am furious. I thought I was winning the entire race but it turned out I wasn't even the leader after a massive sync issue at Interlagos. I thought I was getting my 20th career win :(

For clarity, I am pie4july in the video.

The person who won the race pitted but they never came back on track in my game

I am furious. This should have been my twentieth GT sport mode win... Instead this happened. The user has been reported for illicit activity.

The person who won the race pitted but they never came back on track, but somehow they got lap times every lap.

I wonder if the guy knows he would not go back to the track again before pit. We all know once entered the pit. Automatic drive would take over.

Upond further review, it does seem more like a network glitch. I wonder if that other driver would have saved his replay, might be worth asking

If that's the case then I feel bad for calling this person a cheater. I don't think that it is a sync issue though. Wouldn't this have happened before? Don't recall seeing anyone talking about this before.

That doesn't explain why each of his lap times are red when they are being timed. A sign that your lap is invalid/you pitted

I think if you fail to select tires, you do just sit in the pit, but I could be wrong. I thought I had done that in a FIA qualifier once before when I was done qualifying but there was still time left

Oh really! :boggled: Never try it. No time for this kind of testing during the race. :D

Yes, you can sit in the pit as long as you like if you don't select tires. I have done that before when the phone rang, auto drive and pit and just sit there to avoid the penalty for disconnecting. You don't get any new lap times of course.

What must have happened here is that his connection was degrading so much the game let him drive by himself, not able to synch anymore with the rest of the race, yet still setting times. People have reported before that the whole field seemed to crash and they got to drive the rest of the race alone.

It's also been reported before that first place suddenly changed into second place to a mystery winner. It's pretty rare yet it happens. It looks like he loses synch while pitting when the screen sideways and you hear a lot of skidding, then nothing. Just another bug :/

And, yes it is kinda cheating, getting to drive by yourself without traffic while still being counted in the race.

This is exactly what happened to me when I first started playing GT Sport. I didn't have all the requisite ports open and on the second lap of my first online race, everyone suddenly drove off the track. When I pitted, I somehow synched back up with everyone only to lose everyone again once I came out. I did win and somehow had intervals for drivers I couldn't even see.

Not sure if this is what happened here but considering that driver was 2nd before pitting, it is certainly plausible they ran enough fast laps on their own to take the win.

Happened to me a couple weeks ago. Didnt show up on track but i knew they were there because they were putting in fastest laps.

I'd also say his connection made all the other cars crash off and the game then re-synced when he crossed the line.
You had an 8 second gap over P2, why not carry the penalty across the line? :dunce:

I've had this happen to me, said driver entered pits but replay never showed him come out.
I won that race.
The second half the replay showed a blue screen when he was selected.
But he was out on track as he was battling for a podium I recall.
Only seen this on interlagos.

Mine happened on inter.

They didn't crash, I would have had a larger lead.

And don't they add time to your penalty if you carry it across?

No! It gets rounded up to the nearest second, that is all. These days, with how you need to almost be stationary to serve a penalty, it is best to carry.
Same driver:odd::odd::odd: Any reply:confused:
No...the guy was showing as last place, then as I crossed the line he jumped to 1st

Since this looks like a network glitch, perhaps you could change the title?

And how do you get 8 seconds of penalties?

I had a 5 second penalty which I recieved from being hit from behind...

I thought I had an 8 second lead

And you lost by 2 seconds, so you lost way more than 5 seconds serving the penalty

The car I lost to was not on the track... how was I supposed to know? The game said I had an eight second lead. I burned it, then finished and suddenly I wasn't first anymore. Had I known how close that car was, I would have carried the penalty across the line.

I didn't even know there was a car stuck on pit road until I saw the replay. This is why I orginally assumed cheating

As Nuschel is saying... if you are further ahead than the penalties you are carrying, just take it over the line. You gain nothing by burning it first.

With an 8 second lead I wouldn't even bother serving a 5 second penalty, there are 3 seconds of lead still left :D
I was mistakenly under the impression that penalties over 3 seconds had additional time added to them if you finished the race with them. Like multiple seconds added to it. So I was worried I would lose by that, so I decided to burn it.

I couldn't see how close to me the car on pit road was, seems like they would have just beat me with my penalty had I carried it anyway
