under the impression that penalties over 3 seconds had additional time added to them if you finished the race with them.
Fair enough. This has never been the case though, so from now on you are good to go :)

The only additional penalties are those added to unserved penalties of over 10 seconds in a race

I thought they added more so I figured I'd burn it. Seems like he'd have won either way.
No. Your have over 8s ahead of P2. That's enough.

Yes, you would have lost either way. You lost less than 4 seconds serving that 5 seconds at the end, looking at your last lap time. The other car was not in the race and the 8s gap was to third place. The mystery racer finished 1.2 sec ahead. So he basically was 4 - 1.2 = 2.8s behind.

You could have won with a perfectly timed burn crossing the finish line right as the counter reaches zero. It's possible, tricky, and if you think you're comfortable in first, why bother. He would definitely have won if you had continued.

It's sad that winning nowadays includes learning how to efficiently burn penalties :/

Especially when the penalties are from Dr B drivers hitting you in the corner and not being penalized themselves.

I love asymmetric penalties

This used to happen quite a lot in GT6's quick match. Many a time, I'd be miles in front and even taking it easy but would then cross the line in 2nd or 3rd. Pretty surreal seeing it happen.

Hey guys that was me in the race that won but I didn’t cheat or even know how to cheat. I never entered the pits at all at the end of the race. I pitted on lap 6 and finished the race out from there. I was 2nd place most of the race and only 1 or 2 seconds behind the leader. At the start/finished line it looked like pie4july slowed down for a penalty and I passed him for the win as I was only right behind him most of the race. Again, did not enter the pits on lap 11. Only on lap 6.

Btw, how do you save a reply?

I apologize for jumping to conclusions so quickly. I didn't even think it was a sync issue. My sincerest apologies

Well, this clears that up then :)

Interesting that from @BassMasta808 POV he was actually in the race.

To save race replay, in the post-race chat screen go to top left then click Replay and then Save Replay

Racing is serious business! I wouldn’t cheat even if I knew how. For me racing is like hunting. You’re chasing down 1st like a cheetah chases a gazelle. I wouldn’t cheat myself out of that feeling. Lol cheers everyone.

Did a BB infield race a while back and the player in 1st kept disappearing and returning to the race, thought I had 3rd right until it said I finished 4th. Only happened once in 450 races so I wouldn't say the game is broken
