how about the AI is made up of your ghosts? this way you are racing some of your best times. of course it would be in the similar car as you are using. It would be cool to see the AI driving like you. this would make the races fun!!!!

Yeah but what I was saying was that if they are following your exact path from previous races or time trials, and there are loads of them...there paths would cross and they would crash into eachother.... I thought you meant it was scripted completely.

I don't think that should be the how it is done. I've seen a lot of the technology out there now, and a lot of things that AI is capable of ... So how about an AI that can learn and adapt? The AI start off as stupid as they are now, but as you progress through each A Spec section, the AI can see the lines you take and the overtaking you do both where you do it and how you do it. Thus meaning that when you hit extreme ... the AI is much smarter that when you started, thus giving you a more competitive race.

Then of course you can keep training the AI so to speak by redoing races. Then as the AI becomes smarter, and races are more of a challenge to win, the prize money and XP increases to match regardless of race ... Im sure this can be achieved somehow ... maybe lessen the cars down to 8 to make more processing power available.

Midnight Club Los Angeles has adapting AI...What i ment by you Ghost i should have just said your Best lap times

I see what you are saying and can I just add I like the lines you are thinking along, the basic idea is great, but like the other guy said, there would just be a massive crash in the first corner (as your best laps would all be taking the same lines). (Plus you could fix races, you could set your best time by doing a lap and parking for ten minutes before you cross the line lol! Seen as though your laps from races aren't ghosted you could keep using that tactic lol! :P)

those people shouldn't play gt5 then...lol

I suppose if you could do your own runs before hand, say save three different ghosts, all three having different lines around the track, then these could randomly be assigned to each car on each lap, thus they can still be quick and they will all be on pretty much different lines?

Thats the only way I can see it working ... I like that idea as you could make it very hard for you to pass the car in front, so it could be as hard a race as you want really.

Have the AI like they were in the older GT games, where it wasn't so easy to outrun them.

This is a very odd way about going about this fellas , other games dont have all this palaver etc they just have A1`s that know that there in a race, simple

I know Shift & GT5 is a bit like BMW's and Audi's you either like one or the other in most cases , but at least in that game the A1`s if a little to aggressive fought for first place the A1`s in that game are risk takers and set on hard very good opponents , as they are in F1 2010 & grid

all these games use A1`s simple as no ghosts or what ever just race knowing A1s surly it cant be that hard for GT to implement the same

F1 2010 is my second fave game at the moment and when I win a race in that game its because I have had to work from the moment I leave the grid right up to the time I cross that finish line I feel that I have achieved some thing, I don't feel that after winning on Gt5

I'd like an adaptive AI that starts off as a good opponent and then only gets better, to me it seems the obvious and best way to program them from the start ... I beleive that that would be the best thing if an improvement is made.

Also, as the AI gets better, I think the XP & the credits should then increase to match the opponents you are beating, that maybe could help balance out A Spec at least?

Now that I agree with ^^ and it really cant be that hard to implerment either.
