Didn't help for me, still had a lot of freezes after this update.

Didn't you say in another post that your has been freezing in the menu's? I wonder if you may be having a hardware issue. I have had freezing but only a couple of times since S2U release and that was with 2000 PI cars.
I haven't had a freeze since 3.65 but then again I have not tried the very fast cars recently.

I've had freezes pretty much anywhere, mostly while loading tracks but also when driving faster cars. Even got a freeze in a class B car (Audi R8), only once though. There are 2 car/track combo's where I almost always get a freeze, Gumpert Apollo works on the Nordschleife and Scion FWD drag car on any Standing Mile.

I did have a laugh with my last freeze or whatever it was before I took my Shift 2 disc out of my PS3 and went back to GT5 though. Was doing a lap in a stock Impreza on the Nordschleife since I wanted to do the same on GT5 right after to actually see the difference. Finished the 1 lap race, didn't even get the 'end race' screen, screen went black and it took me straight to the PS3 XMB. It's like it knew I was doing my last race and just decided to kick me off the game.

FWIW, I was having similar freezes to yours, laggy menus as well...put in a new 7200 rpm hard drive, and haven't had any problems since. have not tried the nurb with an over 2000pi car though. PS3 250gb slim. 1.02, and PS3 v3.65

yep didn't help me either , still get the mini -freezes /framerate dropout , and laggy menu's too now that you mention it

It is just so strange that some have these problems and others don't. There must be something different between the PS3 hardware.

i wish someone would find out , but as i stated in my other thread "mini freezes" if i do not allow the game to connect to the internet, i do not get any mini freezes or frame dropout while playing in career mode , or quick mode , as soon as i re-connect to the internet , then i get the mini freezes /frame dropout occuring while i'm playing career or quick mode :ouch:
can anyone else try this and report back ??

I am having exactly the same problem. It seems worse now than before the update. The lag is seriously annoying me 👎

For what it's worth, my PS3 is always connected to the Internet/AutoLog and I don't see any mini-freezes or frame drops.
I would not use a wireless connection if you are (at least for debugging). I wonder if it could be your Internet provider's security controls or throughput. Are you on cable, DSL, or ??? Have you run a bandwidth test (http://www.speedtest.net)?

I am getting around 20 MBps download and 2 MBps upload

I have not had a feeze for a long while. Never had a high speed freeze, or frame rare drops.

When I do get a rare freeze its usually in the menu area after I changed things (tuning, or paint, etc) and am clicking kind of fast.

I have autolog on all the time, use a wireless, with a PS3 slim 150gig since Sept last year.

Same here. The on;y difference is that I have a fat PS3 80GB.

Just to add my two cents - I have freezes everywhere just like someone else stated before. I would say 50% of the time it freezes while loading a track and 50% while driving, and not necessarily at high speeds. The day before yesterday the game froze 4 times in the span of an hour and a half. 4th time was almost enough for me to throw my controller against the TV.

One of the freezes yesterday was when I launched the game and was in the main menu. A friend sent me a message. I opened XMB to reply, typed a long reply and the game froze so that I couldn't turn my PS3 off by just touching the button. I had to hold it to turn it off.

A couple of days ago I was trying to get the re*arded king of the hill trophy (which has got nothing to do with skill but rather with how well you can ram. If you can find opponents that is as the online seems to be totally dead in this game). I was in the semis and finally after a long wait I found an opponent. Accepted the challenge, the track started loading and THE GAME FROZE!!! I restarted my PS3 and it counted as a loss and I was back to the qualification round! FFS! I was furious to say the least. All this trying just for the stupid game to freeze! That is my last trophy for platinum and I suspect thanks to the amazing decision from devs to add trophies, which you can't affect, I won't be getting it. Shame I didn't realize it when I started going for trophies...

can you try entering the game then disabling/disconnecting from the autolog and see what happens , could you get back with your findings please

You have plenty of "bandwidth" but your "latency" (responsiveness) is very high. I usually have around 4-5ms in latency. Any one test may give erroneous results but if you consistently get high latency it "could" contribute to your mini-freezes. By the fact that yours goes away if disconnected from the Internet/Autolog seem to support a network issue.
S2U may be more susceptible to network issues than some other games. Too bad, if so, as Autolog is one the best features to come along in racing games.

Note, I think your "mini-freeze" and "frame dropout" issue may be unrelated to the high speed freeze that some seem to have with high PI cars and some tracks.

Again, it is very strange that some get these freezes and others don't. I wonder if the the high speed freezes, and possibly the ones you listed above, could be related to heat. If the PS3 is not in a cool (mine is in an air conditioned house) or well ventilated area (not an enclosed cabinet) could causes an over heating issue. If you have ever monitored the heat of a computer processor while gaming it will climb "dramatically" under stress (fast moving graphics, etc.). I have had a few issues on my computer with racing sims when I have tried to overclock - the processor got very hot at high speed or with many cars on screen during a high speed race.
With S2U have the developers tried to through too much (graphical, sound, physics elements) at the hardware? Or lack of programming optimizations? Surely there seems to be a lack of testing under adverse conditions (warm environments, etc.) or possibly various versions of the consoles. A controlled or consistant development environment may not have uncovered some of these issues.

yes i definately tend to agree with you there bmwisme , but what if anything can i do about the latency ??

Received Warning

by the way guys , believe it or not i received a warning for the above post ,because of incorrect grammar !!

by the way guys watch your grammar and punctuation when you post , i got a warning for the above post !!

Dear musomaniak,

You have received a warning at GTP Forums.

Reason:
-------
Lazy Grammar

Please make use of the shift key in the appropriate places when composing your posts.

AUP
•You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

This is a warning only but you need to take it seriously.

can you really believe that

I was aware but was not sure on how strict they would be - apparently very strict.

There may not be anything you can do but here is one link to an article on latency - the various causes and possible solutions (VERY little). Network routers (or route - many hops) and congestion are two of the primary contributors.

@musomaniak: Dude, no point making 3 posts just repeat yourself over and over. You received a warning, take a note of it. And start using caps and fullstops just like the message suggests.

ooh sorry dude . I consider myself slapped on the wrist , and i will not do it again , honest i will not . Jesus H . Christ . Oops hope that is not blasphemy :mischievous:

Thanks Bmwisme (notice the capital B ) but most of the info in that article is slightly:eek: above what little knowledge i posess on networking . Although i do understand some of it , i wouldn't have a clue where to start to try and rectify it . However i'll contact Virgin and ask them what if anything can be done . if they reply with anything positive i'll get back and post up . I hope their grammar and punctuation is up to scratch though :lol:

@cypher2004 : by the way dude , i have no idea why it posted twice , i sent it only the once , obviously an error on my part

You don't quite seem to follow what it is you're doing wrong, so let's allow the owner of this site to elaborate:

Jordan
Double Posting

“Double posting” occurs when a user makes two consecutive posts, one after another. If this is done for no apparent reason, or if the posts are unimportant, “double posting” is looked down upon and may result in a warning or infraction for “spam”. You can edit any of your forum posts on GTPlanet at any time, and this is generally the best option to take if you have more to add to the discussion.

And yes, I noticed the capital "b". I also noticed nine lower case "i"s where capitals were required, just after you've been given a warning about exactly that.

It stops. Now.
