At the beginning of this game, after winning the Sunday Cup event, I was wondering if it would be possible to beat the "Vitz Race" with the stock Vitz EURO SPORT Edition '00. After doing some couple tries, managed to do it. Your opponents have a power between 113BHP and 137BHP while I was doing it with a 90BHP car with comfort medium tyres. I'd like to mention that I am not very skilled like the professionals.

I seem to remember doing this myself.

It's a shame that GT5 doesn't award credits based on the performance of you car relative to the opponents. I would give you even more incentive to try stuff like this.
 
That race frustrated me the first time I did it, not expecting the AI to be that much faster, funny how the lesser race turn out to be more serious than some other events.
 
It's things like this that people forget you can do. You don't have to roll up to every race with a totally overpowered car. I'm sure the OP got more satisfaction with this win, then many others.

I think it's so simple because the turns are so wide and as we all know, the AI is slow going around corners. Well, I don't think that. I know that.
 
Try the World Compact Car race, with a stock Volvo 240 Estate.
Think I needed an oil change and comfort softs in the end. Kept finishing second!

However, if I hit a competitor, I give them the place back, Otherwise tempted to just push them out the way in this 'barge'
