my car is setup perfect. dont give me some smart remark about how its not if I say it is it is. Moving on now, Why does my s14 drift on some tracks but on others hardly does at all? And when it does it goes completely out of control I am drifting the exact same way I normally would when the car actually drifts. so wtf?

its the different tracks. you have to take into account the banking on the turns, the smoothness (or bumpiness) of the road, varying entry, drift, and exit speeds, throttle and countersteer modulation, the list could go on and on.....

Also dont expect to be able to just go to a track and drift, you have to practice and learn every inch of the track. Take your car out and do laps until you run out of gas, that should get you started on learning the track.

I can currently only drive 1 track without mistakes, Trial Mountain Reverse.

If you are troubleshooting oversteering/understeering/etc.. problems with your car, check out some of the links in my signature and print them out. They have helped me out alot in fine tuning some of my cars. 👍

The s14 is very balanced but that doesnt mean all the tracks will drift the same. You have to adapt.

yeah it happended to me before, i would always practice on trial mountain and when i go to another course, i wont be able to drift at all. just keep practicing on the new course until u can get it down, then move on to another course.

Goto Tsukuba... run some laps. Now goto Deep Forest and run some laps.

Different?

Good, cause they are.

Anyhow, various surfaces, banking, and yada yada make a huge difference on a car. I can run my MR2 on Amafli fine.. but Aria is tricky cause its a rougher course...

While I agree with you guys, I feel that if you have a basic set of skills they will transfer to all tracks. Once you have those skills, you will automatically adjust your driving to suit each track. For best results, you will need to change your car's setup for some tracks.

well for one.. no car is setup perfect
two, you dont have to make a rude remark about it
third.. EVERY track is different, even if a turn looks the same, it is NOT the SAME.. there are bumps.. small altitude changes, different apexes and such... you just have to learn, just because you can drift one turn perfect doesnt mean you can drift all the others just as well

I usually just shorten or lengthen the gears abit, and tweek the camber for different tracks. Flat tracks like Tsukuba I'll run -2F and -2R, but tracks like Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, El Capitan I switch my rear to -3, gives the good stability a hard swing on the deep banking.

good call on the gear ratios, i also adjust those alot depending on the track to get desired speeds in the powerband

I gave up on my silvia I found me a new Drift Car and it is American! MWAHAHAHA!

American cars drift quite well (I'm waiting for some one to say that they have to, seeing as they don't grip well). Their wide torque bands allow you to hold it in the middle of one gear without having to frequently switch gears.

The more time you spend practicing the basics of drifting the easier it should be for you to adapt to new cars/tracks.

I just tuned my z28 for drifting all by myself using the knowledge I learned here and In real life. It SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDES! I love this freaking car. I wonder if it is a ls1 or lt1 I am pretty sure it is a ls1 though :) Vette Power Beaches! :yuck:
