Mandatory HUD: oversight or middle finger to the fans?

A possible solution to this would be to zoom in with a reduction of display size % in the options, BUT you'd have to memorize the direction/button sequences to get out of that menu and into a race (then vice-versa) or else you won't know what the heck you're selecting off-screen.

It can be done, but should it be necessary?
 
Until the hud issue is not resolved, GT5 remains just another racing game. True driving and flying simulators are set by default without hud and cockpit view, because that's the basics of any simulator, to read data off the same displays and dials, like IRL. But if needed, that data can also be displayed on small area in the corners.

I like fuel-tire wear gauge. Small, put in corner, doesn't interfere with gameplay, but always there to be checked.

That's not how game development works. They'll be working on multiple issues at once, many of which take priority over a HUD that happens to annoy a few forum kiddies, and even if/when they get around to it they'll be working on other fixes to include in the same update. Sure, it shouldn't take too long, but it's not a single job. Hence 2 weeks plus.

Not to mention the fact that even simple parameter changes still require testing, you never know what bugs can crawl out of something so simple.

Every plasma tv nowadays comes with motion adaptive anti burn in technology. (especially a $1000 one) Just enable that feature and problem solved until they get a new patch.

Well, actually i got this all on - Pixelshift, lower Contrast, you name it - (samsung 7 series, it's the us 8 series model in europe) and guess what? A couple of hours a day, and bam after 5 days i can see a shadow in some full screen color images (light shades of blue-gray) and in the full-dark image theres a darker spot where the damn fuel indicator is located. And since this thing is useless most of the time and on top of that always full - hence nice and bright and whiteish... it's prone to stuck. And it did on my plasma. It's not that bad that you actually notice it, if not looking for it, but as you know, knowing something is wrong, you tend to see it all the time. The Set is six months old and now i have to force myself to stop play GT5.

Until the HUD is togglable i'm completly *****. :(

Yes, to be clear I'm not complaining about "burn-in". Modern plasmas wont permanently burn in unless you try your damnedest and spend hundreds of hours doing so.

The typical jump-in "stfu" replies show that they don't know what they are dissing - as another member said the after-effects are annoying when you notice them. The real point of this thread, and the reason why I don't mind coming back here and replying to it (thus bumping it) is to raise awareness of this EASILY solvable problem, which can be fixed a heck of a lot quicker than incorporating mechanical damage to online racing or whatever else they think holds higher priority.

As I said in the TITLE of the thread, this all may simply be an oversight. A hootin and a hollerin about this may result in a patch sooner than later. Let's keep up the fight and hope that is the case.

This should be a universal rule for video games:

OPTIONS are GOOD

especially in any title that strives to be such a perfect piece of simulation software.
