I'm not sure which sub-forum this should be in but I assume it will get moved if this isn't it. Anyway, on to more important matters.
With all previous GT games I would mostly drive automatics with the occasional romp with a manual. I would always hear how the manual was so much faster but I just couldn't duplicate these claims when I would try. Somtimes I would be a little quicker sometimes not.
Fast forward to yesterday and the Cappuccino time trail in the C events. After struggling to get Silver with the automatic and manual, I downloaded the #1 replay off the time trails and noticed they were hitting MUCH higher top speeds by using 5th gear. So, with my new found knowledge, I proceded to smash the gold time by more than a second in C events and as of last night managed to get #32 on the leaderboards (standard physics).
So, I said all that, to raise these questions. What other cars benefit from "short shifting" like the Capp? Second, short of lots of trail and error, how can one predict which cars would respond favorably to this? I'm starting to realize how much I might of handicapped myself in the past but now I'm looking for any advice on how to learn the optimum shift points for a car. Sorry for being so long winded but I still can't get over how much time and speed I picked up by using 5th gear in Capp and now I wonder how much faster I could be in other cars.
