ok, this is for u guys who actually drive instead of letting the ps2 change gears for u...

when shifting, do you
1. release the accelerator - shift - accelerate?

or

2. just hold it dow all the time, even when shifting?

i tend to do option 2....
I think that it feels funkier and more realistic (almost like theres a clutch) if one uses option 2 tho.
 
Hold it flat.

You should try Grand Prix Legends - you have to lift off when changing gears, or you'll eventually blow the engine up (like real life it goes straight to red-line when the clutch goes in).
 
haha, its realistic, okay. for all you realistic gt players, too bad that retarded technique is slower.
 
I hold it down all the time.

Granted, that would be a terrible thing to do in most production cars in real life, but the game doesn't make you release the accelerator, so I don't.

im gonna take up using manual. automatic is putting me to sleep.

and to stay on topic, i will use number 2 because i dont lose any speed.
 
I generally hold the accelerator and shift at the same time. The game doesn't make you lift your finger from the button, so I don't. :D
 
I change between thetwo but I also shift quite alot with the X-button. This makes the car shift like it has an auto-gearbox.
 
Honestly, I don't see why people are raving about how excellent the Manual 'box is when trying to make it behave like an Auto 'box. The main reason I switched from Auto to manual is because Manual allows you to direct power to the wheels. If you're going to try and make Manual behave like Auto, why don't you simply switch to Auto fully?

That's not a direct criticism of you, Quattro, I'm just making a generalisation.
 
Okay, then, put it this way: What i said was, Manual allows more direct power to the wheels.

You've gotta read between the lines. :D

I drove a RenaultSport Clio Cup car once, where you do precisely that. Flat on the throttle, when it gets to the redline, yank back the sequential shift, and it goes to the next gear, no lift, no clutch.

VERY cool! You had to use the clutch on the way back down the 'box though.

Exactly like I do on my ZXR... Full throttle while upshifting. (kill switch in the ignition activated by the shift lever :D )

And use the clutch when downing :)

True. Although you might want to get onto UPS and kick the s__t out of them - sounds like they're not too reliable . . .
