but you prolly ride withit on auto :p

that was a little harsh, hehe. I dont do it because it seems pretty dumb to put yourself at a disadvantage on the straights. Its like you are racing to try and beat someone, youre giving it all youve got to edge him into the next corner, but you let off the gas like a moron. He passes you.

Do it in cars because you need to, dont do it in GT because you dont need to. If I had a car that allowed me to shift without letting off of the gas, I sure as hell wouldnt do it "to make it feel more realistic". I dont think i would be cocky if I said thats a little lame. I actually drive a car, so I dont need to make it feel like I am when Im not.

Well...the tranny in GT3 is like a auto tranny w/ sequential shifter. Funny thing is that if you're not hard on the throttle, the auto tranny doesn't shift up. LOL That's NOT a auto tranny unless if you say that it shifts for you at redline...LOL

When I shifted I alway let off the gas. I do this because when you shift in real life do you keep your foot to the floor on that gas. I didn't think so.

...but you do in a sequential shift car. There's a sensor in the shift linkage that sees the motion of the stick as it is pushed back to upshift, and either cuts the fuel supply or interrupts the spark momentarily, meaning the driver doesn't have to lift. WRC cars are set up exactly the same way.

So I keep the balls to the wall and let the transmission sort it out.

Theres no reason to let off the gas in the game when shifting. Its just like the paddle shifters in the new ferraris and others. As to the difference in using manual over automatic: The car never downshifts at the right time, you loose alot of power when the car boggs down under the powerband. Using manual, you never have this problem.

yea i finished the whole game first time b4 i actually realised that u cud drive manual... ah well... that must have been why it was so long and boring first time around.

Option 2 hold down the accelerator when shifting....
this is the fastest way to get up to speed. One thing I do sometimes, is press up on the d-pad when accelerating. This used to be a cheat or a help in GT2 but i dont know if it works in GT3.
My goal is this: to have competitive races with the computer AI cars. So to accomplish this I tune my car with the least mods if any to race competitively with the other cars. This means you have to drive more precisely, not lose traction and use better lines to get around them. Sometimes its very nerve racking. Give it a try...

I gotta try that, but it is so hard to do that because I love having 500hp over the comp and being able to stomp the gas and get nine car lengths before they even hit 2nd gear. It is an overwhelming feeling of destroying the competition thatI love.

I am still testing out my l2 brake button theory with analog controls. I keep putting myself into the walk becuase I forget on regular turn to hit the L2 not down on the right analog.
