March 1 Marussia MR01
The twelfth and final car to be launched for the 2012 season is the Marussia MR-01. Information is scarce at the moment, but I've been able to glean a ew little bits and pieces from around the internet:
- The MR-01 will be the only car of the 2012 season to run without KERS. This is because the team thinks that concentrating on getting the aero right is more important, and that whatever benefit the system offers will be offset by the challenges of making it work and the added weight that it brings.
- According to Pat Symonds, the MR-01 will not feature a stepped nose. In an interview with Motorsport Magazine, Symonds says that the team abandoned the idea when they could not get it to work. This is probably because the MVR-02 had a slightly lower nose profile than the other 2011 teams, so raising the nose and then stepping it down required a lot of work.
Discuss.
