From Auto Express:
Set to be one of the star attractions at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, this is the Maserati GranTurismo S, a flagship that shifts the super-coupe’s emphasis from style to performance.

Key to the newcomer’s appeal is its mighty 434bhp 4.7-litre V8 powerplant – a 35bhp boost over the standard car. To help drivers make the most of the S it is fitted with Maserati’s quick-shifting automated manual gearbox.

What's more the range-topper also comes with powerful Brembo brakes as standard.

Buyers are also treated to a subtle bodykit and exterior styling tweaks to set the high performance model apart. Inside, the cabin is trimmed with leather and Alcantara and features a bespoke seat design.

Expect more details when the racy Italian is unveiled in Geneva on Tuesday 4th March.

Kudos to isuk @ FChat for posting up.

Not digging the Trident wheels. too busy, looks like they took some DUBber's wheels and painted them dark gray. otherwise a nice car.

and, hey, more power's never a bad thing, right?

*cough*Aston Martin Vantage*cough*

Like you're ever going to need those rear seats. :D

Ooh that is sexy. A sportier version was to be expected, the standard model is fast, but very much a cruiser. This should be interesting, it'll still be more cruise than race focused, that doesn't dissapoint me if it is though.

It's good that they've decided to up the power. Most road tests have stated that it's a fantastic car let down by a relative lack of power for a car of it's weight. It's a shame that it's only an extra 35hp - most reviewers says what it really needed is an extra 80-100. Considering that the F430 makes 480+bhp with what is basically the same engine, i'm sure Maserati have really missed a trick with this one.

I saw the standard version last week (I think) and it is a very nice looking car irl. Nicer than the AS V8 Vantage, altough I still would choose the AS ove the Maserati

Or perhaps Ferrari is flexing its reign over them like they did with the MC12.

I thought that was probably the case too. I believe Ferrari actually construct the engines for Maserati and then ship them down the road to Maserati in Modena.

Looks hot.

Back looks very Aston though... :indiff:

I don't see anything AM in it, more Jaguar instead, no idea what that latest model is called (XK?)

Love it though, was rather sceptical towards the base one, especially with that grey colour, but this one is absolutely marvelous! 👍

Damn Maserati for continually making it so that I can't ever decide on the perfect car if I had $100K... One day its a Porsche, then its an Audi, and now it is certainly the Gran Turismo. Just plain sexy. Its not outrageous, and its not overly boring, just about perfect.

Problem is, Jaguar makes this thing called an XKR...

Which is also a tad faster (0.4s around Hockenheim, that is), a tad more enjoyable to drive, and a tad less beautiful :p

I dont see it, plus this looks ten times better. They took the regular GT and just made everything better.

Well, I wasn't talking about the looks.

But (IMO) you're confusing newness with beauty. Ten years from now, you'll be looking at the Aston range and nodding appreciatively and wondering what all the vents, funny angles and flicks are on the Granturismo.

However, like the Granturismo, the DBS won't age well... as do many things which have had plastic surgery. :D

I don't know about the S, but the regular model has very "classy" lines - a long, stretched bonnet, a sleek profile, and apart from the slightly-weird rear lights, it looks like something I'll see on the interwebs in 20 years, and remember it fondly.

I think the 911 turbo will reign king of the segment in my book for a while. This, the 8C and the DB9 certainly would make a great scrap for third. Which would make a great comparo.....

For me? In this 2+2 (ish) segment?

- Jaguar XKR
- Porsche 911 Carrera S
- Maserati Gran Turismo

I hope you're not putting the 8C & DB9 as 2nd & 3rd for a "If I had a $100K" segment.

Because after hearing the pricing on the 8C, all I see that car now as, is a grotesquely over price Alfa Romeo that obviously won't hold its value for too many years.

I remember on Fifth Gear Jason Plato loved everything about the Gran Turismo other than the fact it felt like it lacked a lot of power and he was wishing for a sportier version.... guess it now has come true although only 30 odd HP more.. was thinking more like 60-70 would be better.

Yeah, well, the thing you have to remember about Jason Plato is that he's a poncy annoying prejudiced wedge-faced monkey-haired wazzock.

Not that's he's wrong, it's just that he's an infuriatingly cocky flange-nostrilled self-important donkey-nob.

If he wasn't such a whiny homicide-inducing washed-up style-challenged bile stain, I might take him a bit more seriously.

But since he's such a complete tosspot, I can't be bothered to listen to a thing he says.

What were we talking about again?

Jeez, did he bully you at school or something

I think Tiff is the cocky one.. could his head be any further up his...:sly:
