I thought it was the same sample, but it is indeed a bit different. Still nothing like a V12. I think the Zonda C12 has the best V12 sample and they should've used it in the V12 Lambos.

No. The racing GT-R's sound nothing like they should. Their sample doesn't even sound like 6 cylinder. The only racing GT-R's that are quite spot on are the Super GT ones.
Proof?

The Huayra is one of those sample that start out perfectly and then is like they fill in with some other random sample for some reason. It does sound like a V10 at higher revs, while at idle and low revs it sounds almost like the real thing :/
It's still marginally better than the entire selection of V12 powered Lamborghinis. The Huayra even has it's characteristic whistling turbo whine that no other car has.

PD has quite the mess with the V12 powered cars. Very few of them sound accurate-ish, like the Huayra. And even the Huayra's too high pitched and almost sounds like a V10.
No it sounds 100% like a v10, no v12 in the sample whatsoever.
In fact it uses exactly the same sample as the Gallardo.

The v12 lambos also use the same v10 sample, none of them are comparable to their real counterparts

It doesn't sound exactly like a Gallardo.

Because it doesn't rev as high, otherwise it's the same sample

I give you my absolute promise it's the same :)
They have different pitches, not just the revs but they have different pitches, otherwise they're similar although the Huayra's has a whine to it and some raspiness hidden in there somewhere. The Gallardo's just WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Agree with you on this.

But it just isn't accurate. I need to hear a v12, but I'm hearing a v10 (:()

The sole way to distinguish the number of cylinders is by the harmony ( I don't know the specific ones for each but I can just tell by listening ;))

Engine harmonies are grouped like this:

-1,2,4,8,16 cylinders
-3,6,12 cylinders
-5,10 cylinders

In gt6, I'm hearing the 5 and 10 cylinder harmony. The fact I am hearing the wrong harmony is why it is inaccurate.

Btw love the real sound of the huyra, it's low grunty and whooshy :embarrassed:

It actually sounds like speed

I think they got the GT350 quite close, and the GT40... Probably the same 289 sample but still fairly close.
I've heard videos of the mk1 gt40 and it sounds flatplane, and very different to the gt350 sample used in the game.

Are they really? If so, nice to learn something new.

Well, they're not...

Oh yes they are. And I'm not talking about the quality of the sound. We can pretty much agree that the quality in the game is terrible and bland, but it does sound like a flatplane V8 to me. That is enough to consider it accurate. PD got it right (as much as they could).

Yeah, Typically I want a good street sound so I NEVER go past sports exhaust in GT6, and I usually swap out the headers and catalytic converter as well. I think that's realistic tbh, because irl racing exhaust, especially titanium has a pretty distinctive note.....or sound quality, not sure the right term. Just very metallic.

But pretty much every car I buy in GT6 I bring to a track and try out every exhaust combination to find the best combo for each car. I don't recall specifics off the top of my head, but some sound best all stock.

I think GT has pretty accurate "over-TV" sounds. They pretty much sound like they do when I see the cars on TV, recorded by microphones, played back over speakers. Like the GT3-500 cars and sports car racing cars, whenever I actually get to see those races on TV, I think they sound EXACTLY like they do in GT5/6.......which is really no distinctive sound at all from the in car cameras aside from the high pitched whine of a racing transmission, that's all I hear watching those cars race on TV.....which GT seems to have down-pat.

It's just the low-end sounds, and the imperfections of real life GT is missing in it's car sounds. I will always remember one or two patches after GT5 2.0, they changed how the sound files were played back obviously, and everything sounded amazing, deep, dirty and imperfect. Like the 787b literally sounded like the fabric of reality was being torn. I was like yeah, this is what I'm talking about for sound in GT. But in the next update it was gone and never came back.

They need to bring back that mysterious piece of code permanently, though GT6 is slowly getting back there. Car sound in GT6 is WAY better now than it was at launch and it got most of that fairly recently. But still nowhere NEAR where it was in that particular GT5 patch.

The real annoying part for me is that it's obviously something easily changed in the audio playback code. Because you can hear fairly accurate exhaust sound for pretty much every car in the game when you select them from your garage and they start up and sometimes rev-up. Why does it sound so good and accurate in that 1-2 second audio sample, but sound completely different when you actually use the car? It just makes no sense. PD is missing SOMEthing so simple, which they bullseyed once, but then took away in the following patch.

Hmmm, now I wish I submitted that in the ask Kaz forum. I would have liked to ask what was it about that particular GT5 patch that made the sound so amazing, and why didn't they keep it when sound tends to be their fan's biggest complaint?

The sounds in 2.02 were lovely, here is a video that you may or may not know of.

Someone should really mention this in the sound update Q&A page.

Dodge Challenger R/T 70

Absolutely SPOT ON (except for the high revs)

Idle sound, spot on
Mid revs, spot on
High revs missing.

great sound bite.
Really shows exactly how I mean about the lull when the gear is disengaged and re-engaging when driving a manual.
Would love this put in the sound more than anything. Been curious if this speeding up of the gears changes the speed of the cars and what not. In terms of physics and what not.. you know what i mean.

Hopefully all those new engineers will be adding details like this to the sounds.
