I would like to buy a Chaparral 2J. I saw it once in the used car lot once for $19,2xx,xxx, but I didn't have the money then. Since then I've been saving credits, and I keep watching the used car lot. But this cap means that to get the Chaparral, I'll spend a long time, up to two game-years, with between $19,300,000 and $20,000,000 in my account, not buying anything big, waiting for the car to show up.

That doesn't really sound like a recipe for fun.

It's just a way for them to suggest you birthday-glitch the Chaparral...

Good points, but you also can't neglect that underlying everything is the issue of time. This is clearly a rushed and somewhat unfinished game, and it's entirely possible they copied some code from Prologue and never got around to changing it.

I'm right there with you. I get the [optomistic] impression that they gave in to us who were crying for the game to be released and just gave us what they had, knowing full well that there were many points in the game where they wanted to improve it.

I almost see us (the release-date customers) as a large testing group for the Christmas gift group that will be swarming on the game today and onward. This is evidenced by the 1.05 update which made credits and xp more accessible, along with the Online Dealership and Seasonal Events. We cried for more content and they delivered. We cried for less grinding and they delivered (somewhat). We cried for used cars to be easier to find and they delivered. We're crying for more Standard to be Premium at they said they will deliver.

Here's hoping that they're just getting started.

I think the solution to this is for you to find someone to trade with. I'm sure there are plenty of people in these forums who own that car and will be willing to trade for it. You just have to do some searching, and I'm sure you'll be able to find what you're looking for.

If you're attatched to your garage, you could offer to buy them a car of their choice with that money you've been saving for the 2J.

I don't see how hard it would be to make the limit, unlimited. I would grind so much more if I had intentions to save up a lot of money, but otherwise 20M credits isn't that much to have when it is the highest you can get.

Because you can't program "infinity".
You can only program a number that is so absurdly huge that noone will reach it, like 100 quintillion. (100,000,000,000,000,000,000)
 
While I dont agre with the 20 million limit I dont think its such a big problem.

Just buy some cars once you start aprocing 20 million, and the problem is solved. There is no bonus or anything to have more than 20 million in your bank.

I seriously think the game has a lot more other isues wich should be adressed before they spend time on this.

1. We have only 1 tuning settings wich dont even save, when you go online with your car. Give us at least 3 setups to chose from like we had in Prologue.

2. There is no matchmaking system in online, also you cant see the lobby settings before you load it. I want to see all the settings for the lobby I am about to join, before I spend 2 minutes to get into the lobby, only to find out there is no host to start the raqce, or the room had all kinds of weird setting regulations.

3. There are no leaders boards besides the seasonal ones. We need leaderboards for everycar and track in the game. Also we should be able to see our PSN friends wich A races, licenses, and challeneges they have done offline.

4. The online and offline physics are not the same. Seriously you cant even tune a car offline, and then take it online, because the car behaves completely different.

5. The way to regulate the car restrictions in online are to limited. The PP system in Prologue was far superior to the system we have now, where you can only alter, weight, and BHP. Need a system similar to prologue, and also options for setting races like only 60's 70's 80's or so cars would be nice.

Those are IMO much more important isues than the 20 million limit.
 
Thanks for your opinion. Sticking to the topic though - so I won't go into detail discussing your 5 points - this isn't a matter of importance, as they have a significant team of developers that should be quite capable of knocking this change out quite rapidly without affecting other things. As with so many bugs/problems in this game, the problem for PD isn't how long it takes to fix, the problem is knowing of their existence in the first place.

Regarding the problem going away if you just buy cars... you should read other users posts in this thread to find out the problems this cap causes and how your solution does not apply.
 
Leaving whether the 20 million credit cap makes sense aside, the game should warn you when you approach this limit. How much work can it be to program a message that the next race you're going to do will probably hit the aforementioned cap, and that any credit earnings above 20 millions will be discarded? A lot of people will not know this beforehand, and those people understandably will be mad for spending hours on an endurance race only to find out that they might end up with a gain of a couple of credits.

1. Penniless - 0cr
2. Multi-millionaire - 20,000,000cr
3. Expensive car - 100,000cr
4. REALLY expensive car - 1,000,000cr

The problem with there being no limit is that a computer cannot handle an "infinite" amount of credits. "infinity" is not a computable amount for a computer.
Therefore, a cap is REQUIRED for the game to function.

Now, that being said: They should have set it at something completely ridiculous, like 1,000,000,000,000,000 (aka: 1 quadrillion) credits. That is a computable value that would be nearly impossible to reach.

First of all let me say i'm not really happy with the cap, but I can kind of see the points made about it being easier to get the trophy etc, but, aren't trophies supposed to be a challenge? Grinding to 20m isn't hard, just time consuming and then we are basically forced into getting the trophy. It would have been better if the cap was 20,000,001 then we'd have 1cr left over and didn't get the trophy, we'd have to calculate and spend wisely for it, or buy 4 carts at the beginning like others said.

Literally 1m more on the limit would satisfy most of us as we'd be able to tune the car a little.

I've also realised how highly PD rates the 2J. It costs 19.25(ish)million, cap at 20m, so that only leaves us 750k of races to find it in the UCD since most will probably blow the cash on a 60's racer. (well, those of us that refuse to cheat with the birthday glitch crap) Ofcourse there are ways round this - save the 20m, or near it, and buy a car under 700k, rinse and repeat.
 
I plan on getting 20M and staying there. If the game save duplication is still in affect by then I'll be able to buy any car I want and still sit at 20M

Wow sorry if I want to backup all of my hard work...

At least these are locked to the profile instead of not being secured at all. Then people would just get their entire save off the internet.

I was wondering about that.

20.000.0000 seems in line what GT5p did, with the max amount = F1.
In GT5 it seems max amount = exotics.
I'm still struggling to get a race car for the Classic events, my Chromeline XJ13 does not seem to qualify.
 
Chromeline cars don't have a year which is why they don't qualify for events with year restrictions.

The best car for winning the classic events would be the Chaparral 2J Race Car. With this car you can win both the a-spec as well as the b-spec events with ease.
 
I think, (in my very humble opinion)....that a mere 20,000,000 credits is FAR, FAR too low!! What is the big deal about having a credit cap anyway? Does it REALLY matter how much we earn?? If they dont want us having more than the 20 million, then they shouldn't allow us to earn up to 200% if we are online!! The two seem to clash. What do YOU think? I'd love to know...both pro AND con!!

The credit cap is one of about 3 to 4 things I dislike in GT5 vs. GT4. Maybe there was a cap in GT4...but I dont recall one.

And I agree with post #60 in this thread! It reads, in part "...The only main complaint I have with this game, is that B-Spec and A-Spec are separate (Unlike GT4)." I could NOT agree more with this statement about how Aspec and Bspec are different. Not to mention another change: How you can only win the prize car for a race just once and ONLY once.

I DO enjoy GT5.... I guess I was hoping it was going to be more like GT4 in some areas I truly loved.

These are just my opnions...neither right nor wrong...so please dont bite my head off if you disagree. HOWEVER...if you DO agree or disagree, PLEASE contact me because I am working on a mass-movement of GT fans to send a detailed letter to the head of P.D. & SONY before much more development is done on GT-SIX!! If we dont tell them what we like and dislike, how will they know? Their goal is very simple...to sell games. If we show them what we gamers are looking for...we MAY get lucky!

At the VERY least...some of the differences b/n GT4 & GT5 could be made to where the USER can decide how the game should run. If he/she wants it to be a tough game, so shall it be! But some of us like it BOTH ways. We could at LEAST have the freedom of choice. That wouldnt be hard at all to program the next GT that way.

What would you do if the cap didn't exist anyway? There's only cars and upgrades to buy in the game anyhow (thankfully you don't have to cough up to repair damage, fuel or worn tyres).

I know I moan about this myself, but only because I can either keep buying cars I don't need or just not earn the money from races anymore, like the OP. After all, every single xp I 'earn' goes to waste these days and there's nothing I can do about that.

I think the most expensive cars in the game are deliberately the same price as the cap, just to put you back on your arse every once in a while. This was a problem before the seasonals, since cr took so long to accumulate. I maxed out my account this morning and immediately bought a Ferarri P4 with it. I was soon back to 6 mil after cashing in a couple of b spec accounts and winning a couple of seasonal races with my new car (real circuit tours are quite a challenge with only 639 pp, a 5 speed box and not much downforce).

PS the X2010 you can by from the NCD is 20 mill (unless you're in Japan) so you can buy them - I've got 3 and I don't even drive them - I just wanted to clear my account out.

As for the trophies, I think most players will have gotten some or all of those way before they hit 20 mil.

About this whole cap-discussion, I'm against it. It's just in the principle of the being of a cap. Something that limits us. I personally saved up a lot during the Spec 2.0 bonus (I'm at 15.5 millions right now, still saving up quickly, as I just got Spec 2.0 now, last hours of my 200% bonus).

I just save up, for the purpose of being able to expand my collection, without having to grind everytime I run out of cash. And has other people pointed out, a cap is ridiculous when it's the same amount that the most expensive car costs (how can you even hit 20.000.000 Cr perfectly?)

There is no reasonable explanation of why there should be a cap, so I hope it will be changed in future updates/at least GT6.

There's the Penniless trophy and I think there's a max credits trophy. Though that isn't much of a good reason. I guess it's to make it a little more difficult to buy cars.
 
I've often wondered if the cap is there to avoid glitching... such as if someone figures out a way to code money into the game. Just a thought.

But that number rounds up to 20 mil when new. It was 10 mil in the OCD when the offers were half price. You do the math from there.

The credit cap is a bit of a stupid decision really. Especially when you see there are cars worth that value and to get them have to spend that much on buying them. It also makes the X2010 horribly underpriced.
