Maybe they should move Seasonal Events offline?

With the example of PSN being down, maybe they should move the repeatable Season Events offline? Obviously not the Time Trials or Drifts. However now that the Events don't have a expiration date, there is no reason to keep them online only. People could have been enjoying those events right now, if they were put offline when they removed the expiration dates. But even when PSN comes back up there will be times when a persons internet connection is out that they should still have access to those Events.

+1 Agreed! 💡
Then, it would also mean that once you downloaded the required data for the latest Seasonal Event you could then play them at a mate's house without need to be online if you wanted or, as you say, if your net was capped or offline. :)
Great suggestion. I doubt the download data required would be large either, even for the custom circuits... Just look at the size of user-created tracks... Tiny! 👍

That would require a download every time they release a new seasonal event. Which means more load time getting kick out of the game waiting, because it wouldn't be a background download. Plus imagine how overwhelming that world get, say you miss a few weeks and now there's a big download.
I doubt this will be a common problem anyway.

Those events are are just a tiny bit of information. It just needs the id for the track and the cars you are racing against, plus rewards. We are talking about a couple of kilobytes per event.

i wonder if there are new seasonals?
to compensate for the outage

These events should have been in the game when it was released. PD can't fully incorporate them into the game or else they are admitting their mistake, and they are so full of themselves so it won't happen.

Yup, some folks still seem to miss the point that the events are just raw, basic data and the game then "creates" the event from this. I think it's likely they are also downloaded to temporary memory when you play them as i've had PSN disconnect in the past whilst I am still racing, it's not streaming anything so I can continue.

It really wouldn't be a great leap to be able to keep these, and even be able to practice the "created" Eifel, Mt Aso etc. tracks.

Yup, I agree with the OP's suggestion.

I would also like to have events to use some of the standards. There are only a few events to handle the insane amount of Japanese standard cars.

There is no "maybe." These should be patched into the game permanently every time they are refreshed.
I'm not particularly worried about the 30 second download that would have to sit through, and PD could implement them so they only download when you go into the Seasonal Events menu, or when you start the game, rather than popping up a prompt like a normal patch does.

keep them online, makes it more special.
Being "special" hasn't meant much for the past two weeks, eh? Or ever, really.

I hope so. I also hope they up the online login paint rewards from 10 to 140ish (2 weeks worth) so we can all catch up :dopey: They wont of course, but after all its only a number value on the server - its easily changed!

They should add 100 new events. They should have been the game from the start.

Or at the very least they should give you money and xp for running arcade races.

Definitely should be downloadable so you can run them offline. The online limitation is purely artificial (like so many other things these days, sigh.)

Better still, give us the tools to design our own events and share them with others. Come on PD, why not let us do the work for you?

:lol::lol: 140 paints chips in one day! 💡 That would be brilliant! 👍
I look forward to seeing what new colours I get every day and have done since release up until this little "hiccup"... :grumpy:
But a one-off to catch back up would be good, however it is unlikely... :(

Its unlikely but would be nice, afterall it won't actually cost PD anything as its only a simple number value somewhere.

What I did think was that we'll be back down to 5 paints from 10 because we haven't logged in for two weeks lol :lol

Never even thought about those pesky paint chips lol. A little compensation would be appreciated however unlikely.

Let's remember it's Sony who (arguably) owe us, not PD, and are apparently going to reward our loyalty (see latest news page)

PD have nothing to do with the outage so the most we can hope for is perhaps another seasonal along with the Muscle Car seasonal (as another has fallen due since), as for paint chips not sure if they can backdate that, but is it really a biggie?
