The MP4-26 will be launched tomorrow in Berlin at 11AM UTC/GMT. There will be live streaming from the McLaren website.

Here is what Lewis Hamilton said after the end of Day 2 testing about the 2011 car.
Lewis Hamilton
"I'm sure our new car is going to be good, so I'm pretty confident.

Our car looks different to others and I hope it reflects on its performance. Ferrari and Red Bull look more like an evolution of last year's car."

The key word in that quote is "different" so it will be interesting to see if McLaren have a radical design compared to everyone else.

Heres a Few Test Pics

Can't wait to see the launch. Looks a bit like the X2010 due to the cover on it. As a McLaren fan, I hope their car is competitive. We will all know in Q3 Bahrain, which team got it right and which team who will have egg on its face.

The Red Bull and Ferrari are going for the stealth look, everything that makes it fast is beneath the skin, while McLaren and Renault seem to be playing with different design concepts that you can see more easily.

Kubica in the Renault could be a serious contender for the title if the 12 months work on the car does pay off. They spent the longest developing the car I believe and they weren't that slow last year too.

I'm hoping what McLaren unveil can't be copied by others. If the car is fast then I'm hoping for an all Brit shootout but that is because I'm biased due to being British. I wonder if their relationship will strain.

Look at the video Jenson owns a Premium car ;)

Isn't that last years car testing the Pirelli tyres?
Yeah. Button and Hamilton both skipped the Abu Dhabi Pirelli tests. This might have actually been a cunning move on McLaren's part because the final Pirelli compounds have apparently changed significantly since November. Button and Hamilton get to do some running on the final Pirelli compounds - with no prior knowledge to cloud their preconceptions - in a car they already understand, rather than learning the final compounds on a car they have no expeirence with.

Very thin nose.
Looks like a long wheel base.
No sidepods?
That's just a placeholder ready for the MP4-26 to be put there after launch, the tyres are completely wrong.
Rumor has it, McLaren are using a side exit exhaust like Renualt are.

Craig Scarborough said he heard this wasn't the case, I think they have some innovations with the nose and sidepods as apposed to the EBD. They have plenty of time to tune that system later on.

Hamilton did say it looked different to everyone else ...

Looks like McLaren managed to keep the superior Bridgestone tyres, kept the Number 1 on the car and taught their drivers how to drive facing backwards in the simulator. No wonder why Hamilton feels more confident than ever.

By the way I noticed you probably changed the title of the thread, how come Lotus Renault still sticks as after all Lotus is a sponsor like Vodafone? Is it due to length?

Finally I will quote a part of the AUP.
You will not knowingly post any material that is false, misleading, or inaccurate.

Just joking :sly:, hope that doesn't put you on to my back ;).

I don't know who changed the thread title. I didn't even know it had been changed. I tend to let others do the moderating in subforums that I frequent. It eliminated bias. Or at least, it eliminates the potential for bias if I don't moderate conversations I'm heavily invested in.

I just noticed it changed once you started posting on this thread or maybe just before it. This is why I used the word "probably" not to directly accuse you of changing the title. The title before was "Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-26 Launch".

Just wanted to know why it was changed, the moderator who changed it show yourself and explain :D.

Lol Interludes, you got 'em good. ^

Looking forward to this launch.
Watch them unveil twin sidepods, basically dual layer but with smaller intakes, haha.

Am I the only one who thinks that doesn't look half bad, back-asswards and all? Nevermind the technical faults with it :dunce:

This is a teaser image of the MP/4-26. What's odd about it is the parts that are circled. They're much higher than the front wing would normally be, and seem to extend all the way back to the sidepods. It evokes the image of this:

Curiouser and curiouser ...

Its coming out now on the live stream, they are wheeling it in!

OK, the sidepods are crazy different!

I’m not really sure what to think. It’s a very skinny-looking car, which makes the whole thing look longer. It’s also got a very industrial look compared to its predecessors. I was instantly reminded of the Tumbler in Batman Begins compared to the Batmobile in Batman & Robin.

I loved the way they built the car in the middle of the square. I just wish they would have given us a heads-up as to what was happening – I thought it was an ad to begin with, and it took me a long time to work out what was actualy going on.

Those sidepods look radical. Also, a very intricate front wing.
