Well possibly that quarter mile time is here in Denver where we dont have the advantage of thick oxygen rich air. I think we sometimes lose up to a full second just from our altitude disadvantage........... And seeing how as he is 19 and most likely not a spoiled little punk who's parents bought everything for him. I think he could be proud to run a 14.9 in a Nissan Sentra which I believe isnt boosted.

Yeah, I think 14.9 is rather good for a car that is 95% stock, cost me only $2000, has over 70k miles on it, and looks just like a regular ol' Sentra. And hey, I'm having fun in it so why come around and burst other people's bubbles? I've raced over 40 different cars in my home town and have lost to 4 of them. And one of them got pulled over after he won! I've been to Bandimere and I don't drive like a jack-ass. Sure I street race, but I'm so far ahead of most people by the time I get to the speed limit, it's not even that illegal. The worst I can usually get pulled over for is reckless driving. I've beaten many well known street cars such as a Celica GT-S, Jetta 1.8T, 5.0 Mustang, Camaro I-ROC, Civic Si, Integra Type-R, and an Acura RSX-S. I've peeled out ONCE in my car and have NEVER done a burnout, and I treat my car and other people and their cars with respect and care. I've tested my top speed but it was on a deserted highway in Nevada, and most importantly, I love my car. How many cars roll off the showroom floor doing 14.9? I'm quicker than 90% of the cars on the road and I have fun meeting other enthusiasts except for people like you.

I have fun meeting enthusiasts, too, and they're not street racers.

I do realise, like you said, that you put a great deal of effort in your car, and i shouldn't have posted that way, but in the end you're still street racing. An innocent bystander could pull out of a road at any moment, and even if you were going the speed limit, you'd still ram into it, and injure or kill the innocent occupants. And then you'd get criminal charges, jail time, and a pretty bad reputation.

I do that too. Except i do it at the track. What's 15$ when you compare it with a ticket, or an impoundment?

Well, If I'd slam into them if I was doing the speed limit or not, what does it matter if I was street racing in the first place? If I were going the speed limit and someone pulled out and got hit, that would definitely not be my fault. And I race at the track too, but there is an unmistakable difference in the feeling you get when racing a stranger that wasn't "set-up" with you. That's the whole purpose of sleepers too. Sure, I've been pulled over for speeding a coupla times, but I've been racing for years and have NEVER been ticketed for street racing or any other type of reckless driving. You're basing your views on stereotypes of stupid people that drive around like they swapped a V8 into their Civic. You might be thinking that I'm the kinda guy that goes to the "meets" and heads down to the warehouse district with the posse to do some racing but I've only been to those a couple of times and that was years ago when I only watched. I didn't put that much effort into my car but I still wouldn't want to be caught in a group of racers that are getting their cars impounded. I also know the value of my hard earned dollar so I don't waste gas by driving like a jerk. Believe me, I know what I'm doing here and I've been doing it for a long time with no incidents. Don't worry about me losing my license or anything but I assure you I'm putting nobody in harm's way.
 
Well Im afraid to once again be bursting your bubble......... but if any law enforcement official around here saw you next to a car and felt that you werent driving normally........ He'd call it exhibition of speed......... and here in the great state of colorado thats a 12 point ticket meaning no matter how old you are you lose your license........ you do not have to exceed the speed limit to be exhibiting speed either. The cop could have a hair up his butt that day and how are you going to prove him wrong in court? The local authority's are really getting annoyed with street racing around here and I wouldnt be so confident that your not putting anybody in harms way..... there are so many possibilities of something bad that could happen that you cannot guarantee safety...... hence the safety crews at racetracks...I'll admit I street race, have street raced, and probably continue to street race, but......dont be so overconfident. Im not bashing you or anything. Im just putting in some facts and my opinions. As for your car, what have you done to it? Is that 14.9 at Bandimere or is that a published number you found? I doubt that stock it runs 14.9 anywhere let alone Denver. Im very interested in what you have done to it that makes it beat the likes of some of these cars.

I do understand very well that I risk getting caught everytime I race but honestly I think that that's a major part of the fun and, like you, I don't think I'm going to quit anytime soon. I'm very careful to survey for police if I feel that a race is about to begin, but as you said I can't be too confident. I've never been caught but it's not like I think that I'll never get caught. Also remember, the bigger the city, the less the police care about trivial violations. As far as safety goes, you can't guarantee safety at any time, racing or not but I refuse to race in poor weather conditions or any type of traffic.

I know that my car doesn't run a 14.9 stock and when I did the 14.9 run, it was in Oakland(with much better tires I might add). I'm sure it's more like 15.5-15.8 up here. My mods as of now are:
HKS Intake(minimal difference, mostly sound)
Nissan high-lift cams(high-rpm gain of about 7hp)
Unorthodox 7lb Flywheel(good low-end diff.)
ACT 6-puck clutch(HUGE 0-60 and 1/4 mi. time drop)
Advanced Timing
EGR removed

If you just do a bit of research on classic 91-94 SE-Rs you'll find that these times are very realistic and actually very average. Most SE-R owners with full bolt-on mods run mid 14's. I was just kidding about having my bubble burst. I'm not the kinda guy to take things too personally. I just didn't care for the "and you're proud of it?" line.
 
I'm down anytime. Gotta here from Boom if he wants in on one. The 6 person I-links are where its at though. We have all necesary hardware save a few Tv's and some PS2's thanks in large part to Boom. I'll pm ya and see whats up
