Ok so how does a game get out on the streets. By word of mouth or by advertising. So you ask where the hell is GT4 commericials. The game is far enough along to be showin good replayas so why dont they make some commericials. When gt3 was coming out they had commericials like 3 mounths b4 the game actually was to be released. We all remember the viper at tokyo right. Or the rally racers stopping to let the bunny cross. Or maybe the race a special stage route 11 when the racers shut of all the lights in the work place then take to the streets. What i ask of you is some ideas for advertising and why u think pd is holdin off on the advertisments.

I think nearly every PS2 owner has played GT3 and anyone who liked it is obviously constantly looking for a release date, they dont really need to advertise. GT3 was the advertisement.

It hurts their wallets, a TV ad can cost over 1 mil easilly, and GT4 does't need to pay for advertising, it's getting all the free advertising it neads in magazines from PS2 mags to car mags and lads mags, I've seen little bits on it all of thoes.

Ok. I think people are taking this thread the wrong way. I just want to see what type of creativity you guys have i just think some ideas for a ad would be good or if some of you more talented could make a video suitable for a commercial.

It's all relative, though. If the ads whip all of the GT fans into a frenzy and they sell more copies of the game, then the ads worked, regardless of money spent on them. At $50 a pop, PD need only sell 20000 copies of GT4 to erase that million dollars you spoke of. As far as all of the "free" advertising they are getting in mags and so on, everybody knows that when the first GT4 commercials start to hit the tv people are going to start going nuts. I bet there will be at least 10 threads started here about the commecial within hours of it's broadcast! Advertising works, even in a saturated market. Hell, they still advertise the super bowl don't they?! ;)

Yeh, but to sell 200000 copies more than what they would sell regardless is quite difficult. As for ideas for an advert to keep this thread on track, you could have a guy leave his house, get into his car (which would be in a garage) and when he drives out the garage he's in the game in one of the tracks pit lanes and then he speeds round the track.

Ok good. Heres one....
Just maybe to illustrate the lighting changes form day to night it would be like a really nice evo on citta de aria or fuji and it would be night and really quite and it gives a shake down of the real track then ull here a engine in the distance then it will get louder and louder and then the camera will buzz right to the cars headlight which will flash on and the car will take off and it will go into the game and at the end hell like stop at one of the places on the track and it will be reall life again and hell like turn into his garage or just casually drive of down the street at dawn.

Think I remember a GT2 ad being shown in the UK late @ night, although I can't remember any GT3 ads.

I really don't remember GT3 ads being out 3 months before release, more like 3 weeks. And we're not even within 3 months to GT4 anyway.

It must have been different in SD, because here in LA, the first commercial was the the racer stopping on the Super Speedway and kissing the chick in the stands. It aired on the Conan O' Brian show a day and a half before the game's release. I doubt the game needs much advertising because everybody knows about it. I think they should make the next round of commercials for parents who will be buying the game for their kids as a Christmas present. They should air them during more grown-up shows.

I hated the commercials for GT3. I think Sony was shooting for funny-cool commercials, but it didn't work. I loved the commercials for GT2 much better; they were racing shots of the game in action. I still remember the Camaro race car on the Seattle course, leaning a lot through a turn. I hope Sony brings back this type of commercial.

You're probably right, I was just pointing out that it was much closer to the release date than 3 months. Good memory.

ok, here's a good commercial for GT4:

You show a rally race. The replay is of the Sti (since it is the only rally car I have seen) doing a lap at Grand Canyon.

That is it. that should sell another million copies of the game.

Another good commercial would be to have code_kev and cobragt bicker and argue over the graphic quality of the game. Then, Kazunori Yamauchi runs them over in a Fairlady LM car killing them both, and we all live happily ever after. The end.

2 billion more copies sold.

Relax guys, only jokking.

I don't recall any of the commercials all of you talk about. Here, we got a combined GT3 and PS2 commercial, showing the Team Oreca Viper racing against some other race cars on SS5 Wet. It abrubtly makes a U-turn, drives back, makes a couple of donuts and then continues with the race. Despite all that, it was boring. It wasn't very impressive the way it was executed, and was probably just to show off the graphics.

If GT4 is going to have any (paid) advertising at all, at least make it a little more fun then that one, but not as comic as the ones I've read above.

thats great

they should have some real life footage morph into in-game graphics. And show a number of cars flying down Tokyo and New York etc. And make sure they mention the amount of cars in the game :D

I don't remember a single GT commercial that mentioned any particular feature. I think they just showed footage of the game in action, and then said something like, "In stores, now." I do, however, think they should do it different this time around, and mention the many new features. I think they should advertise this game a little more serious this time around. I'll use the MGS2:SOL commercials as an example of the type of commercial tactic Sony should adopt for their GT4 ad campaign. Those ads were cool, informative and showed the game in action.

I don't remember the GT1 commercials at all, which means they weren't very great. The GT3 commercials were very stupid, so they worked to capture your attention and to discuss it with other people like I'm doing now. I call this the "Mentos" advertisement tactic. Most of you know why. I hope Sony avoids this, this time around.

Heres my idea for a commecial, solid lifters is going for a walk along a nice country road, when all of a sudden he's attacked by a pack of wild dogs that tear him apart. What the hell, have whats left ran over by 2 fairladys, and a vauxhall nova. No sound track, just his screams. Then a 2 second shot of GT4 at the end.

5 billion copies sold

just kidding

a little mock-up I did, not that GT4 really needs it. :D

Heh cool pic, although I think the slogan is more suited to PGR2 with its kudos system :)

Yeah, racng is about how fast you drive, the fastest wins. You could use a slogan like drive into reality.

It's a very nce pic, though, I just agree with T5-R.

Very nice pic man. Good work. :)

Here is a slightly better attempt:

:D

I like that, it's more subtle with the lack of colour and the slogan catches your eye well.

The main GT3 commercial I can remember was where a car was driving on deep forest, can't remember the car.. and it just stopped to look at the landscape of the mountains and forest.. and that was basically it ;)

When I saw that I thought wow that looks good... on a tv and at that time in technology it was positively photo realistic
