im sorry if a request like this cannot be post in this forum, but it's the only american forum i know with lot of people reading it and maybe some of you has parents working in medical field and can help me.

My cousin just found out to have a pancreas tumor and doctors here (in Italy) said there isnt anything they can do to cure it
So i just wanted to ask.. does anyone know of any available treatment or surgical procedure to treat and cure pancreas tumor in Usa (or anywhere in the world)?

Is it malignant? I'm really, really sorry for your cousin.

Depending on how large it is, a pancreaticoduodenectomy might be able to be done. If you're willing to come to the states and do whatever it takes and stuff, I'd suggest calling all the big hospitals and medical universities here and seeing what they think. Here's USC's website. It doesn't work, but at least they have contact info on the front page. I'll ask my grandpa about really good pancreas centers the next time I see him as well.

If your friend is short on money, or this is a money issue, tell him to do what a lot of Americans are now doing when facing severe (expensive) surgery. They're going to India to have it done. Seriously. There are other countries too, but India I think is the most popular. You get great medical care for not a lot of money.

Check webmd.com for more info and help. Good luck.

my dad is a medical advisor for pfizer.
i asked him and he said he doesn't know of any.
im really sorry mate.
help him enjoy his life.
again sorry for your loss.
my moms aunt had lung cancer and she never even smoked, so i have kind of seen what you are going through.
(mums aunt passed away from the cancer)

Been there, seen that, got the T-shirt and inheritance.

If they say there's nothing they can do about it, then it's already metastatic. Metastatic pancreatic cancer = dead. I'm afraid that's pretty much it. We had 4 days notice.

I wish I could give you better news - and you should note that just because I've said it doesn't necessarily mean it's true - but I'm afraid I just can't. And I'm a molecular geneticist with a specialism in oncology (though NOT a doctor).

If Famine said it, it's pretty much true.
If it isn't metastatic, the only hope is an organ transplant.
Sorry if that isn't what you wanted to hear.
By night, I'm an annoying web-surfer guy. By day, Registered Nurse.

Damn, that's bad. What I would do is look on the web for places that specialise in cancer treatment. Althout I can give you one place, we have a hospital over here that specialises in cancer treatment called Christies hospital http://www.christie.nhs.uk I would suggest contacting them since they literally are one of the biggest cancer treatment hospitals in Europe. Do look for help and do contact a few hospitals, get as much medical information as you can on the state of the cancer he has off your doctors, that will allow anyone you contact to tell you if there is any avaialble treatment.

Damn, sorry to hear that.

My mother died after surgery to remove a brain tumor, but the surgery went exceptionally well. However, I don't know if the Medical University of South Carolina (where the surgery was done) treats pancreatic tumors...I'll try to find out for you, though.

And I wish you and your cousin my best.

Well, he said Tumor, not cancer, which is why I asked if it was malignant. But, yeah, metastatic cancer anywhere is a huge push towards death.

A pancreas tumour is easy to treat - remove the pancreas and prescribe insulin forever. If they say they cannot treat it then it's already at least locally invasive, probably metastatic, and pancreatic-origin metastases don't relocate to certain sites (like lung and colon both like going to liver and bone) - they relocate everywhere. They're the cancer equivalent of a nail bomb. Extremely nasty.

I´m afraid it is malignant. I have also read in some medical sites that the only available treatments can only make her live longer and ease pain and discomfort to an extent, but cannot provide a definitive cure.
thanks a lot to everyone for ur advices
