So you are racing online and someone slams you into the sand. By the time you are back on track the race is over for you. People here don't want you to leave the race early. You might be the host.

What about having an option in one of the menus with a list of all the drivers in that race.

You click on the offender, report him and that's it. Wait for the race to end and go on with your life.

Somewhere in Sony Central if there is such a place the data could be collected.

After the offending driver is reported say 50 times he is notified by Sony to behave. After 10 more times, no go for a day or two.

ETC...

Seems like it could work.

I think in order for that to work, the replay data would have to be sent to Sony, and then someone will have to verify its integrity. Also - I think 50 times is a bit too much, 10 violations of a protocol would be enough I reckon.

it wont work. because it's gonna be abused by same stupid drivers. they can report people for just fun. at the end of the day you'll get a ban for nothing.

just a little patience. Private races will solve all this kind of problems

I don't think this will work, because people will use it just because they lost or because you passed them fairly. Or just to mess things up. Or what if you are so mad that somebody accidentaly bumped you that you punish him by reporting him? Or you and your clanbuddies decide to simultaniously report someone? Instant ban for a day or two? We can already see what happens if we leave it up to the 'niceness' of the players...

The reason I said 50, and perhaps 100 would be better is to get to a threshold that points to a much more likely guilty person.

Then Sony could spot check first hand the people on the list.
They could see first hand the infractions.
Sony could even assign trusted members of the racing community to keep an eye on things.

I've been mulling this one over a lot also. I've had a number of very fun clean races, but so many of them are ruined by punters.

I think a couple solutions would help:

a) Players should be able to "retire" if the wish, and maybe watch the race from some set vantage point (the pits?). This way if you are punted too much, or are just having a bad race, or find out you are in a car you can't drive well, you can retire without having to quit.

b) The host is not allowed to quit, only retire. If the host really wants to quit he/she will have to quit the game, not just the race. This would seriously reduce the number of hosts quitting.

c) Damage. Even if they don't show the damage physically, they could make the damaged cars run or driver poorly, or the computer could take over and force them to crawl into the pits for the remainder of the race (that is, force the damaged cars to retire). I really think people will stop punting if they know for sure it means they won't win.

I think being out of a single race but still able to view it would be a reasonably fun way to deal with vehicle damage, and would be realistic since in real racing it is always possible that another driver will come along and take you out of the race. Or, you might do that to someone else.

Too many false reports from hurt feelings for losing a race. There isn't any way to tell if someone nudges or bumps you because they braked too late or made some other error without intent to do so.

Are you going to pay sony to do that, because if someone doesn't watch the races every ones name could be messed up.Sony have bigger thing's to worry about than 1 game.Meaning they have more games been released\out already that they also have to worry about.

Make the number of reports before it raises a flag 10,000,000,000,000 if you want.
At some point you would MOST LIKELY have the troublemakers on the list. Then they could be checked on.

I'm going to try and make some sort of log of bad drivers for myself...more as a referance guide so I kinda know who I'm dealing with somewhat and I can try to stay away from them...maybe it will work?

Maybe PD can create some GT5rating system.

If you drive clean, fair and good, you could score GT5rating points and move onto another server where only drivers with a good rating are allowed and cheaters and bad drivers are not allowed.

Being bumped off track is not the end of the race. I've been bumped off nearly every time at Suzuka yet can rebound and end up on the podium if I put my head down and just drive my way back up.

Well unless you were in first when it happened, then you weren't going to win anyway.

I think some kind of sportsmanship rating would be nice .Report good and bad , and have everyones dnf % as well. Something like on Madden. You could set up a public room for drivers with minimum rating and dnf #'s . Let the player with lowest dnf % be host and let everyone know who host is and maybe take $ from "hosts" who quit . I've gotten frustrated with running almost a complete race and the host quits. I play online mainly for $ to buy cars. Right now I want the F1 car.

I'm not exactly positive of the proper term. But my idea for a solution to all the ramming is having every car be "ghost-like" during any potential contact. Right now, it has been my experience that a car can nudge you if they brake late, but cannot ram you if they swerve to keep you from passing. When they try to run you off the rode, the game reacts and allows the cars to pass through each other (ghost-like). Can they not just allow cars to become "ghost-like" in the case of any potential contact, which would fix cars that brake too late into a turn. It seems like an easy fix to me. However, I admit to know next to nothing about the physics in the game and programming accordingly.

One potential negative is: it almost makes every race similar to a time trial.

Any thoughts?
