A question to the registration: Is a Discord account requiered this time if i just want to do the TT?

That wasn't the case last year, wasn't it? Because i don't have Discord, not even shure what this is about, but participated in round zero.

Yes it is required. As soon as you sign up, discord channels will be added to your account.

To simply run the time trial from the game, it isn't needed.

You do. Division 2 places are drawn from a raffle among all participants. The top 24 spots in each platform (plus the two "golden ticket" winners) go in Division 1; everyone else goes into a raffle for Division 2.

I imagine that there's a cutoff somewhere, but you don't need to be in the top echelon.
I remember in season zero there was some speculation that they would choose people with some following on social media (they ask for your social media handles).

Not sure if that's the case or if they just pick from the gold drivers so it is not an embarrassment or so they can have a chance when competing with division 1 drivers if promoted.

Either case I am screwed because I'm neither an influencer or a gold driver, I couldn't even get silver last time 🤣

EDIT: Is there any legal definition for the term "raffle" in the terms and conditions of this kind of competitions? Like they should be able to prove is 100% random or is it just one of those legally void words.

The AMG VC Race Control confirmed a few days back that those who range from 0.1s to 5s could be raffled for Div 2. They seem to include every profile which is registered on Discord and SimGrid.

There were D and C rated drivers in Div 2 last year.

As @A_Higher_Place said...

I am still a C rated driver as I hate doing the daily races due to the dive bombing, so don't have the intention to improve my rating.

I still got in through the raffle last year, although I did have a gold time.

But again, on Discord they have confirmed that the raffle is for everyone that has set a time in the TT.

Yep. I don't think any Season 0 drivers made it in this year. But i'll give it some time to be corrected! Best of luck to any GTP members (if any) who were selected!

I know of 1 from division 2 driver that got in again in the raffle.

And 1 who was promoted from our division who also made it into division 1 again.

Don't know of any others returning though.

lol, the raffle could do with some refining. I’m hearing there are those who just about managed to clear 2 min (ACC but still) who have been initially mentioned among the 100. I mean... why?

There was a lot of backlash on the Discord channel over the raffle.

Some people who got in Div.1 also made it into Div.2 raffle somehow 🤦🏻‍♂️😅

Then there was someone in ACC Div.1 that was also in the GT7 Div.2

So there were a few people in that GT7 100 rafflw list that wouldn't need the position anyway.

...

Also...

Only 14 people in Rennsport in total 😯

I've got in through the raffle(!)

Just need to get in some serious practice as I barely touch the game at the moment.

I have no expectations and just hope for some fun clean racing.
Good luck in the season, hope it goes well.

Keep us all posted on how you are doing 🤩

Just have fun with it and watch what the speedy ones do to keep on learning :). Best of luck!

A friend of mine raced last night in the first session, it was a bit sad, they were only 6 in the lobby (3 A+, 1 A, and 2 C I think).

Edit : and the results were wrong at the end lol...

This was the qualifying for race 1 in Division 2.1

The race was as eventful as the qualifying times suggest and was a very lonely run in P3.

Iguana got lapped by half the field and didn't join for race 2 (which went exactly the same way despite a tighter rolling start).

It was still fun to take part but a shame more people didn't turn up for something they registered for. Hopefully things pick up and the people who dropped out get replaced with people a bit more eager to join in.

The schedule is not great for those of us in the US. Basically if you have a job it’s a no go, sadly.

It's a shame, I still race with a lot of the guys from last season on Thursday nights and all of them were so eager to get back in this year but only 1 of them has got a place 😔

If I'd realised only 7 people would be in a race and we could pick our own numbers I might have applied. Shame.

The registration process was prob too complicated and cumbersome for some and discouraged registering. I was in but the races are right in the middle of my work day so I had to drop out. Such a shame I was super excited.
