Mazda3 uncomfortable? Are you seven feet tall, by any chance?
I'm not sure if it was the one we rented or something else, but the ergonomics were godawful. I'm a pretty short guy and I found that there was no lower back support to speak of in the back seats and the front seats weren't much better. Add in what I considered to be weak driving characteristics and an overall just blah interior design and well, it's not the most comfortable vehicle to be in. If the B class is anything like the c230 then it should at the very least be comfortable...minus the rock hard rear seat head rests

That's weird. We're all short here, and I find the front and rear seats quite confortable. Maybe you fall outside the 90th percentile that the seats are designed for.

Same thing happens to me in the new Civic. Everyone I know likes the seats, but I feel like an enormous elbow is shoved right up my backside every time I get into one. Note, however, that I'm comfortable in even Recaros and go-karts, so I've found this a pretty weird occurence.

Thats a rental version you're speaking of right - B-class comes in at around $5000-$10000 higher than Mazda3 in Canada - which is totally out of consideration for 95% of buyers.

The rental was a Mazda 3. You're also forgetting that most buyers don't have the cash at hand - they go for a loan. With the right down payment and right plan (which I'm sure Mercedes Benz will gladly provide), the B class should have the same monthly payments as a loaded Mazda 3

I'm pretty sure that by "the B class should have the same monthly payments as a loaded Mazda 3" I think you're comparing a stock B200 to a loaded Mazda3. The Mazda3 has more features than the B200 when its stock, yet it will cost just as much, if not less.

It's just the silver three point star on the car - it doesn't really have anything special. It didn't cause excitement when it was introduced, nor was it innovative in my opinion.
