I always wanted to see this in a video game - would go great with the 70s-Mazda Prototype in GT 6.

this the one that had the rotary engine right? and then Mr. Wankel or Wankle went to Japan because Mercedes rejected the project after the US rejected his idea... is that how the story goes?...lol

Yeah, this is the one where they made the switch from Wankel to Diesel. It apparently broke records in both engine variants (290 km/h with the wankel!!) but they had problems with the durability and build quality. Still an awesome car, especially since it achieved all this without a spoilers or wings like all the contemporary cars had.

p_kwiatek, thanks for merging the threads!

...Holy thread revival, Batman!!

Anyways...

I was reading about this in TopGear.com, so decided check it out here. And surprise surprise, another half-cooked thread with a single pic and no specs. Sigh. :irked: Even the thread title's off...:indiff:

First C111 concept had a rotary motor making 280 horses, this mark two started life with another rotary making 370 horses, but then this particular model received a 3.5 V8 and a ZF-developed five speed trannie sometime in its life, according to TG. Hmmm. Can you tell with above pic?

It's going to show up at this year's Goodwood FOS, so if you're heading there, keep an eye out for it. 👍

Oh and...

Edit: I see the title's been amended. Excellent work. 👍👍

I remember seeing that car at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed this year. Very nice looking car! I think it would be a great addition to the GT series. Partly because the Gran Turismo franchise does have a bit of a thing with bringing obscure and interesting cars into the spotlight. Heck, if it wasn't for Gran Turismo 2 back when I was very young, I wouldn't have heard about Vector, Venturi, RUF and Lister and especially the Ford GT40 which became my favourite car in the entire world ever. But I don't think a lot of people would call the GT40 "obscure" I mean the especially obscure cars.
