Interesting, I have to say, I like the SLR, but Famine makes an interesting point. I wonder if we'll see an AMG SLR next year then.

In the grand scale of things i believe Mclaren > AMG

wow 2 years ago everyone was hating the SLR when it was one of the best. Now that its life will soon come to an end as a also ran in terms of outright performance regardless of its ultra luxury people seem to have warmed to it.
Doubtful.

They still have 2500 units left in their contract with McLaren, which is the main reason as to why this is being introduced.

except when it comes to engines.

I heard on the grapevine that that there will be a drop top SLR, to take the place of the current one, to make space for a new flagship car.

Yeah, the rumors of the drop top SLR come for the same reason. To finish the 2500 units left.

Only because Macca don't do engines :sly:

I got into an arguement the other day with a friend as to wether or not McLaren ever offered a Red SLR. I seem to recall Automobile having one, and I must say the car looked much better in Red by comparison to just Silver and Black that I always see. The same can be said for white, which looks quite nice as well.

You were correct. I believe this year, Mercedes offered a bunch of colors. Unsurprisingly, a good deal of them are still grey and black, but red, blue, green, and white have all been seen.

I believe there was news of another color, but I think it was by a special customer.

The orange one?

dang.....the car looks crazy!!!!! imagine driving that thing right beside the beach......

Yeah, so it is about the same as the Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 Turbo, Saleen S7, Mosler MT900, Ultima GTR, etc all of which cost far less.

...Of course, you aren't buying an all-out performance luxury car like what you get with the SLR, but the fact remains that you can get the same (or better) performance for far less money.

I like the car, I really do, my only problem has to do with those crappy wheels that would be better suited to an Evolution than a McLaren... They could have atleast gone with three-piece BBS' for God sakes!

Personally, I think it is sexy as hell! I would give my left testicle for one of those!
