Currently, only a teaser shot has been released on Mercedes GP's website:

But we can already pick out a few details, such as the slightly higher nose, and what looks like more slanted front wing support struts, a little more like the Sauber C29's perhaps.

It's one of the 2011 contenders I've been most excited to see unveiled. Last year, Mercedes weren't quite as fast as some were expecting, perhaps this year they will be fighting for the championship with the MGP W02 and hopefully this will be the machine which will bring Nico Rosberg his first F1 victory!

This is not directly about the car, but I'm a "litle details" maniac. And in the case of this picture I find it very curious that the only brands/symbols we are able to see are Mercedes (the three pointed star) and Pirelli. While the Mercedes symbol is an obvious appearance, the Pirelli one isn't. ANd I'm sure that, if it's there, it's because it has to be, even in a picture that only shows (mostly) a shadow of the car.

I know I said I'd close threads if they were made early, but in this case, there's actually something to discuss, so I'll leave it be.

Anyway, I like the new nose. I remember the launch of the W01 and thinking it looked great except for that nose and front wing, which made it look like a combine harvester; low and bulky.

The question is: how much Schumacher's influence was taken in the development of the car

Aye, remember Brawn said they gave up on the 2010 car early and started working on the 2011 car (I believe before everyone else did).
I haven't heard anything but I think it's a fair assumption that Schumacher had some decent input in the car's development, which an of course lack of in 2009 may have played a partial factor in his 2010 performance.

I like the design, the nose seems to be high but hook downwards like a beak, one thing I can't make out is that object protruding forwards? sideways? in the middle of the car.
I think 2011 will be a hell of a year.

Schumi seemed cocky like this car is better than the other one. It will be interesting to see how Rosberg does early on. If he beats Schumi, than the tech advances throughout the season will likely go to him.

Schumacher will have to fight hard to beat Rosberg, but then again with such early R&D maybe they wont be able to improve on it much during the year (similar to the Red Bull cars in 2010.)

This.

I can't care less what influence Schumacher has had on this car and its development. As long as Nico doesn't suffer from it and finally gets his well deserved first victory, it's all good.

Will be very interesting to see what the first full Mercedes car can do(IIRC last years was partially developed before Mercedes bought Brawn).

Last year's car was pretty much a BGP-01 plus a few add-ons.

No it wasn't man, it had a completely different nose and airbox for a start. If you think that way every car was last year's car with some add ons.

Found this picture on another forum:

You'll notice the Petronas decals are in white, not turquoise. The car itself also appears to be a darker silver.

Yeah and the BGP-01 was an RA-108 with a different livery.

The nose looks similar to the TF110.

Reminds me of the Williams nose.

Looks pretty good, I still dont like the look of the duck noses but it clearly works for them so I hope it works for Merc too.

I like how the Petronas mint green now fades into the silver bodywork, last year all its sponsors were so poorly intergrated into the colour scheme they looked like stickers!

I looks like it could be a good contender.

Looks like I have a new team to look out seriously for next year... That car looks promising.

Schumacher for title No.8? With this it may be possible.

C'mon guys you can't look at a car and decide it'll challenge for the championship.

True that, but they did start development of this car very early last season so it wouldn't surprise me if it was a contender. But from looking at a picture, unless somebody is a very good aerodynamicist we have no idea how good it will be.

There was an old saying 'If it looks fast it probably is' or something like that. Let's wait till testing eh? ;) I think the Ferrari and the Renault are going to be quick this season. I quite fancy RBR to come out with a car that shocks everyone. Looking a lot different. That or stick with the RB6 and still win

I found it before them :sly:

I think it looks great, it seems like they're trying something a little different with the front wing.

It's last year's front wing. Mercedes don't want the whole world knowing what they're running on the front until the car takes to the track. Even then, they might do some early testing with it.
