Mercedes SLK 55 AMG

This is the new Mercedes SLK 55 AMG, it has a V8 that delivers 360 hp at 5750rpm. The top speed is limited at 250 kmh and a sprint from 0 to 100 takes 4,9 seconds. Some pictures :

Seems a bit silly to have a SL55 AND a SLK55 when they have virtually identical looks and performance

I'm sure that Brabus will tune it and then it will proper kick ass. Up until then, it's just another fast Merc. Nice, but still just a fast Merc. I think you need to add km/h to the 0-100 in 4.9, because if it does 0-100mph in 4.9, it's faster than a MacLaren

The new SLK350 will be unveiled at Geneva (there are already pictures of it released however) and the SLK55 AMG will be released shortly after, and as you can see, they've also released their pictures of it.

The SL is much nicer - more stuff and aimed at a more exclusive buyer. The SL55's engine is also turbocharged to get 493bhp, to the SLK55's 360bhp.

Yes it is, I don't believe Mercedes-Benz has any turbocharged engines, they're all supercharged.

what about the amg 73 engine, bi turbo v12 i believe. in the neighborhood of 600hp and 700+ lb ft torque!!!

True, I forgot about the SL600. And there is no turbocharged 7.3 AMG engine that I know of. The only other turbocharged engine I can think of would be the 6.0L AMG in the Chrysler ME Four-Twelve.

A brand new 24V 3.5L V6, bigger and more powerful then the older 3.2L in the SLK320.

Have to say I like this new SLK even though I can see a resembalance to the SC430 and I hate that car! As for the nose I think it serves as a good reminder of their F1 experience. Saying that, the more I look at the penis nosed monkey.........

whoops, was thinking of the wrong engine. i meant amg 65, as found on the cl65 amg. 603hp & 738lb ft bi-turbo 6.0l v12

I see that on the side veiw, but no where else. The rear end look's really sporty. Then again, it's a Mercedes. You can't go wrong.

Yeah. Sorry. I looked at SL600 instead of SL55. I forgot that some of the AMG models are less powerful than high-end Mercedes models.

Actually you're wrong - the SL600, CL600, and S600 all have the same turbocharged 493bhp 5.5L V12.

I don't know about an AMG 7.3 turbo but the Brabus 6.3 V12 is a twin-turbo engine.

The SLK55 AMG is an N/a if I'm right, it uses the engine from the older E55 AMG. That had 360bhp.

Oddly enough after one of the mods (don't remember who) said they were fooling around with boat shapes I started to like the SC430

I don't like any of them and they get worse and worse.

I know what cars the Turbo V12 are in, but since we were discussing engines, that'd still just be 1 engine even if it's in 3 cars.

The exhausts are different though.
And the ECUs are sometimes different for different power delivery.
But yeah they are the same engine.
